I've been woodworking in my home shops for over four decades so I've learned how valuable good tools are. This Jet drill press has made my work more fun and efficient and I look forward to using it. The laser cross beams were accurate right out of the box (no adjustment needed was a nice beni), it's quiet and smooth, has more than enough power and speed selections available.
I've used many cabinet shop and metal fabrication shop drill presses both larger and smaller as well as similar in size and this one is the best of all of them, exceeding all my expectations. Yes, I would recommend it to anyone looking for this type/size!
I was pleased to see it arrive early by more than a week, and the box was in great shape, so there were no problems to deal with like broken parts. My son is like me and I'm telling him the good news so he can purchase one for his first shop (he's working on it as I write this review).
And no, I'm not just blowing smoke...it's really a great machine!

I've been using a few smaller "harbor freight" type drill presses and wish I'd spent this money sooner. Great quality, packaging was perfect. Easy assembly. Table dead on 90 degrees thanks to the tapered pin setup. Runs smooth and quiet.

Drill was well packaged, instructions clear and simple, machine is large and impressive. Belt array for speed change is fast and easy. Runs quietly and powerfully. Laser crosshairs spot on, LED light much appreciated. I did mount it on a DeWalt planer table (replaced DeWalt top with double plywood top for strength) for mobility; rock solid and just the right height. I drill lots of large holes (3+inches) and struggled with my old 8 inch Craftsman (which is dwarfed by the JET).. Large table makes clamping easy. Love it!

Great power and precision. The laser crosshairs are right on. Drives my 2 1/2" forsner bit with no effort.

This is my third drill press. The others were mediocre. This JET drill press has a good chuck and will hold a very small bit 1mm to 16mm (5/8") which was surprising to me. JET didn't spell out that feature in its sales pitch. Assembly was a bit challenging: The head assembly is heavy and I found a work around this by laying it on its side a then sliding the column assembly into the motor/head assembly, then securing in it place with its set screw, and tilting it upright. I also removed some of its weight by removing the large (heavy) table from its worm-shaft/table support. This required removing the large nut (24mm -- which is loosened when setting the tilt-table angles). By removing this 24mm nut you can remove the heavy table. Also, partially extracting the 13mm alignment pin. This 24mm nut was factory installed, probably with an impact wrench. The wrench JET provided didn't work well. I used a Craftsman 1/2" drive 24mm socket and long handled breaker-bar. Of course reinstalling the table once uprighted and following the remaining setup directions. All-in-all this is a nice drill press.
