Holds 12 oz mugs

I have a rose colored rose shaped tray that I've had for 25 years, found it while in an antique shop in Paris, oxblood red rose shape with bronze trim and cream, red, white and pink roses. The tray, shaped like a rose, could only keep 6 mugs (maybe 7 if they hung over the ends). Had friends over for dinner in the fall, 12 showed, only had 7 mugs out for after dinner coffee, had to get my hubby to pull down more mugs from the cabinet it's too tall for me to reach. Next morning unloaded the dishwasher, hubby was at work, had to leave the extra mugs out until he came home, I'm too short. I ordered this and left it in the box until before xmas. Christmas eve I set it up next to the Keurig on an island cart, tons of compliments, mugs nestled neatly, 15 - five each tier. Sturdy, we have 5 heavy duty hot chocolate mugs 20-22oz handmade by a friend on the bottom tier, a mix of 16, 12, 10, 8oz set atop the two top tiers. I nestle this in my beloved French rose tray that I get to remember finding in Paris whenever I look at it. Paris in my 20s, very little money, strolling into shops, and eating cheese on baguettes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, great times.

So, some are probably going to criticize or make fun of me for this review, but this thing is EXACTLY what I was looking for, only for a totally different purpose than holding mugs and glasses. Before I tell you what I use it for, I think it's worth noting though, that I have a huge mug collection and tried them out on this stand as well and it works amazing well for that purpose (as it should since that's what it's for)! It held 15 mugs without breaking a sweat and didn't wobble, tip or bend in the slightest degree.

That being said, I live in a very cold, snowy climate (base of the mountains in Salt Lake City, UT) and we have a lot of gloves, mittens and beanies in our house. Usually they all sit in a pile by the door in our mud room. I've been on the lookout for a long time now for a mitten tree or sorts to hang, organize and dry out all the mittens, gloves and hats that accumulate. If you search "mitten tree" you'll find a few different options of what I'm talking about. I ordered one and it was a complete piece of junk. The parts wouldn't screw together and it wouldn't even stand up straight without wobbling or tipping. And the price is ridiculous for those things! As I was looking at those, somehow this little mug tree came up and I thought to myself, "That actually looks perfect for mittens and is less than half the price of those others!" So I took a chance and ordered it, and I'm so glad I did!

This thing comes in one piece or steel and is completely solid and sturdy without being overly thick or heavy. It's very well designed and can hold 15 mugs or cups (or gloves or beanies in my case) without taking up a ton of space! I love the simple, yet modern and chic design and how you can hang mugs in a couple different ways as opposed to those racks that only allow for hanging by the handle.

I know that my use of this rack is unconventional, but I'm THRILLED with how it looks and functions! See my pics. If you're looking at other mitten trees, I highly suggest you save yourself some money and frustration and buy this instead! Thanks Neat-O!

Having stray mugs litter your kitchen counters is not efficient for kitchen work, and this mug stand works well to contain quite a few mugs. I haven't had any problems with it tipping over.

Lots of space to hang cups and it is very sturdy.
