much bigger then the picture looks like. this is judging my the ratio of the metal lip compared to the gourd. my gourd is much bigger and not for a single person use which is what i wanted.
the color does not match the picture which is fine but overall it does not match what i was expecting.
The lip also isn't well constructed and water leaks from there if you fill it too high
i can;t seem to contact the company to address these issues too

I lived in Mendoza Argentina for a long time, my son lives in the Patagonia. I am very familiar with Mate Gourds and I can honestly say this is the worst one I have ever had in my hands. The dye is horrible, and the gourd has many blemishes almost to the point of holes. They seem like all the rejects the Argentinians don't want, these guys sell.
Do Not Buy This Cuias

When my cuias arrived there was already mold growing all inside the gourd and there was a lot of large flaking of the skin inside. I was bummed but I thought the curing process might kill the mold and that I could gently scrape the large pieces of skin after it had soaked in yerba. Well, when I started to wash it in warm water the dye used on the outside of the gourd bled all over my hands, sink, and countertop. My countertop is now stained purple. At this point I'm annoyed, but am determined to save this poor, abused cuias. So I fill the cuias with yerba as described in the instructions, and start to fill the mate with hot water. After doing this, I try to move it down the countertop, out of the way of things, and I knocked the silver ring at the rim off by just barely touching it! The craftsmanship is simply awful, shoddy, and really embarrassing. The bombilla is nice, tho I would warn you, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT unless you want to pay $30+ for a bombilla and a failed cuias.

It's great but got black spots(mold) on outside of gourd when I cured it for 36 hours like it said on pamphlet that came with gourd. I think it should be reprinted to say 24, after reading on other websites, they recommend 24 hours, maybe it wouldn't have gotten the mold if I had done it for 24 hours instead of 36.

Hand Made Gourd Mate Set Including Straw (Bombilla) (BLACK) is gorgeous! Especially the Bombilla, which is just lovely and has the paddle-style filter end. To my eye, the color is a bit aubergine, which is a plus, IMO. The seller shipped it quickly and the set was exactly as advertised.
Oh, and I'm pretty sure this is the mate gourd set used by Maestro Rodrigo in "Mozart In The Jungle!"
