Right, so I fell in love with Mandolines because of a nice lady pitching one at a local retail store. So I bought one. Loved it.

Then it was stolen from me by my "second mother", and she used it more than I did.

So, naturally, I turned to alternatives, and found this one.

Day I got it also happened to be dinner night with our buddies. So the chef decided to use it and give it a go.

He approves. Because where the first one failed was its options.

All that would do was cut thin, thick, julienne, or fry. Nothing else.

This cuts, shreds, grates, your choice, julienne, fry, thick as a log, thin as paper... did the math. There are over 180 combinations for prepping food. 12 settings for the thickness, your choice of thin cuts, thick cuts, or no cuts, plus the 5 different pieces.

So, yeah, couple all that, with removable blades, dishwasher safe, and a stand/handle, this thing is much better than what I paid $60 for locally...

I have purchased many mandoline slicers in the past, and I know what I like. I have spent significantly more on nicer ones with replaceable blades, more exact slices, etc. But I really needed a good mandoline slicer that does a bit more than slice in one size. I have heard good things about the Mueller V-Pro 5 (as well as other products they make) from other chefs, so I decided to buy this one.

I needed the following out of my slicer.

- Adjustable slice thickness (this can slice paper thin to a respectable thickness to a bit over 1/3")
- Julienne/Alumette/French cut as well as straight slicing

Added bonus
- Wavy cut (ridges)
- Grates
- Juliennes in two sizes (there are blades underneath the slicing deck that you can rotate and lock into place)
- Case for the blades

This one is simply the best in its class, nothing in this price range will come close. It is very sharp, both the 5 insert blades, as well as the deck blades for Julienning tucked into the bottom of the deck.

Using the product, I love how it slices the vegetables very thin, especially onions for bagels, lox and cream cheese, or tomatoes for a thin slices in a burger, but the best of all, it can slice it almost paper thin. Great for like slicing cucumbers for sunomono. The Julienne slices can be perfect for stuffing vegetables in a spring roll, or for making various slaws. The grater is fantastic as well.

One thing I will also like to note is the blades are very sharp. I would use this tool with caution if you have not used a madoline slicer in the past, and make sure to use the food holder and guard. I have used so many in the past, I am used to it, and I know when to stop, so I haven't used the food holder and guard.

This is one of the best kitchen products that I have purchased recently, and I highly recommend this to everyone I know that loves to cook. Makes cooking a lot easier and faster (try julienning 5 kinds of vegetables for a dish), and cleaning this tool is very easy and fast too. Sure, I can julienne and make pretty flower shaped or rose petals out of carrots or make a fish net out of daikon radish just using a knife, but you know, when you want to cook a meal in 30 minutes, nothing beats a great tool.

If you are looking to shortcut your cooking time, this tool is must buy for most use cases.

The Mueller V-Pro 5 Blade Mandoline Slicer is wonderful! I don't know why I waited to get one. This is so much easier than slicing by hand. Adjustable thickness and the ability to julienne is added bonus. The slicer is very sturdy and the blade is razor sharp so slicing is effortless. The food pusher is hefty and large so I don't have to get my fingers anywhere near the blades, a feature I really like! The fold back guard on the julienne blade and the fact that everything comes apart for cleaning assures this will be a well-loved addition to my kitchen. Thanks, Mueller!

We eat a lot of veggies, so a great mandolin slicer is invaluable to me. My old one was less than stellar, so I decided to upgrade to this Mueller Probably 5 and it has absolutely gone above & beyond my expectations!

I'm able to thinly slice even the squishiest tomatoes, and it's awesome for slicing zucchini for homemade chips. One of my favorite features are the 2 pop-up blades that allow me to cut carrot sticks or French fries.

Another thing I REALLY like is the storage case for all of the different attachments. It's so easy to keep everything together so I'm not constantly digging for the right attachment. It also folds up to a manageable, compact size so it doesn't take up much room in my cabinet. And, of course, the finger-guard is a must-have so I keep all my digits! Lol!

I'm extremely happy with this purchase & I'm sure I'll be using this slicer for years to come! Great product!

I was really wanting a good, sharp, safe mandolin and instead got a tool that works well for softer vegetables (cucumbers, for example) but is really quite unsafe when doing fries or a stiffer vegetable. The holder for sliding the vegetables across the blade is very frustrating. I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or if It's just an odd design, but it never grips the vegetable right and always falls off. I've gone back to just using knives for everything. I am very disappointed in this tool.
