Just got them in mail today. The large one does hold 5 quarts easily, which was my primary reason to order the set. It replaces a plastic one, now cracking, which I used to mix large salads and other foods before transferring them to other serving or storage containers or baking pans. It also held a large pot of popped corn. With the rubber lids I'll be using the bowls also for storage in refrigerator. They all fit tight except the smallest, which is loose.
