Won't win any beauty contests, but a good value
B. Hansen✓ Verified Purchase•February 2, 2017
It won't win any beauty contests, but it's surprisingly sturdy and a good value. I put it together while watching TV in my bed & I finished before the 1/2 hour show did. I am a fairly strong guy, so those with less upper body strength might need some help. Several reviewers have mentioned a rubber mallet, but really how many people have one or are going to spend almost the amount the rack cost to buy a one-time use mallet?
For those who rated it poorly, they clearly didn't "seat" the tubes. They go in about 1/4 inch very easily, and then need almost another 1/4 inch in to fully be clamped in the plastic pieces. If you don't have a rubber mallet or a strong guy around, you could try getting a single shelf fit together with its 4 bars and then (while you stand upright & hold one end in your hands) wedge the far end in the corner of a wall & floor so that the shelf is at a 45 to 60 degree angle and lightly lean on it. You should easily feel it as the metal tubes finish popping in to the plastic end pieces. Then repeat for each additional shelf. And for the vertical tubes, similarly, just lean down on them & they'll pop in. You might want to put a magazine between your hand & the metal tube when you push down so that you can push hard enough without the thin metal tubing leaving an uncomfortable circular dent in your hand. No mallet required. :-)

WELL DESIGNED

This is easy to put together and will hold up well. It holds more shoes than i expected. I placed my sandals under the bottom shelf and they fit just fine. They included an extra shelf as a free Christmas gift. It came quickly and is sturdy as well. I see no reason why this won'y last a lifetime. The rungs are hollow tubing and the connectors are a hard plastic. What is not depicted in the photos are the small legs that come with this so the rungs do not rest flat on the floor. The legs allow for additional storage albeit only three or so inches under the rack.
Yes I would buy this again. Folks looking for a high heel rack may want a flat solid bench style rack rather than bars like this construction.Just a thought . I AM PLEASED WITH THIS PRODUCT.

Not made for heels

This only really works for flat shoes. Anything with a heel falls right through it. Even my flat shoes didn't quite fit well - I'm a size 9.5, so my feet are not small at all, but these shelves are huge. Probably works better for men.
Our Second Purchase of this Stable No-Nonsense Shoe Rack Keeps Shoes Where They Belong
GaryS✓ Verified Purchase•November 14, 2016
I recently purchased the larger 24 pair shoe rack and was so pleased that I bought this smaller unit for a closet in a second home so it would fit.
Solid, no wobble shoe rack that won't knock your shoes off the rack when you place another pair on the rack.
Very well built with nicely finished metal tubes assembled in polymer frames. Assembly is fairly easy and, as several others suggest, use a rubber hammer to tap each tube into its socket. This assures that the tubes are fully seated. Instructions are sufficient.
From an aesthetic standpoint, it probably won't win any awards. So, I'f you are looking to enhance a beautiful master bedroom closet, you may want a more attractive piece, perhaps in wood. We used it in our run-of-the-mill closet in a second home, so we weren't concerned with looks, but it is very practical and does the job it's designed to do.

I like it!

I think this is great! Easy to assemble, light and sturdy. You can use the bit on top in the photo as either a side rail for your top shelf or as legs to lift the rack off the ground. I chose to use it as legs and fit 18 pairs of shoes on/under it in my closet! You can see in the picture. This is so much better than what I had going before.
