After getting used to handling, these are pretty good for the price. Pressure is key. Too much and you get goo. Not enough and no design. The cutter is nice because you can remove one wheel and use the other. With using a long ruler as an edge-guide, you can make any size strip. Want waffle edge, you got it. Want smooth edge, you got it. Cleans easy too. Pressure is key and temperature of dough coldish to get the design without clumping into the wheel.

Why didn't I buy these years ago? If only I had known they existed, I would have. All these years I have been baking pies and using foil around the edges to keep the crust from burning. What a pain. Cutting and squeezing the foil to fit, foil sticking to the crust and tearing it when removing the foil, and so on. These shields fit perfectly, are adjustable, take 5 seconds to apply, don't tear the crust when removed, and can be tossed in the dishwasher where they clean up perfectly. I couldn't be more pleased.

I can't tell you how much I love these. I had used foil before and other pie rings too and nothing worked until I found these. They are so easy to put on tnd they lock and stay in place. Also, go in the dish washer , but are easy to just wipe down with your dishcloth. LOVE, Love< Love these.

I bought this as a gift for my pie-loving parents. Throughout life we have always struggled with tin-foil to protect the pie crusts....as any pie-devotee knows, reaching into a hot oven and trying to link several thin strips of foil around a crust is no easy feat. You usually end up with a few burnt fingers and one piece of the pie that remains too loosely covered. So I thought we ought to give this pie crust shield a try. My mom was pretty skeptical about it at first; she has never used any silicone baking equipment, but I assured her it was safe. The shield appears to be well made, with a nice thick material and an easy-to-adjust size.

In a household where the greatest honor is to be inducted into the family "Pie Brotherhood", we use any excuse to make a pie. So right after reading the directions we got to work on a huge apple pie! The instructions say to put the shield on before putting the pie in the oven. That seemed risky to us (we had a fairly thick crust--would it get nicely browned?) but we decided to just give it a try. And I have to say, we turned out the most perfectly cooked crust ever. It was light brown and flaky, the type of crust you don't leave behind on your plate.

I especially liked that the shield is lightweight--it did not crush the beautifully pinched crust at all.

All in all, it's a game changer for anyone looking to perfect the pie crust.

Worked perfectly. I used this on 10" disposable pie tin and not one of my crust edges burned on the three pies I baked. Very easy to use. I will never bake a pie again without using this. (I used the Nordic Ware Lattice Cutter from here on Amazon).
