Keeps the smell out, but.....

Keeps the smell out. Only smell test has bean attempted, never have submerged in water, there is some rubber, but looks like it could easily be warped by stuffing box too much. I would not risk it before TESTING it. I ONLY ordered for the odor resistance, and it has worked good for that :]

Everything it says it is. Compact, discreet, and yes AIRTIGHT. Some of the best money I've EVER spent.
One suggestion: get the case, then (if needed) purchase/replace your piece & grinder AFTER you get familiar w/the case's dimensions. Inside fits a grinder w/carry compartment & a short stemmed piece w/a full sized bowl. Greatest thing if you need to be the life of the party...

This thing fits the essentials 100% I was able to get a fit that nothing even moves around inside so its good to be tossed around if needed.
