Unsure how well lit the path back to the cars would be while hiking around in Iceland, I decided to buy a headlamp. I looked at dozens of options on Amazon, and at sporting goods stores. Considering my limited use case, and the money I had spent on other things, I did not want to spend more than about $20, but I wanted it to have white and red lights, and be rechargeable. This was one of a few options I found that met all the requirements. Some of them did not have different buttons for the red and white lights, and none of them put out as many lumens for the same price. Although I didn't really need it for walking/hiking, I've found a lot of value in other areas.
The red light was fantastic when I needed to grab something out of my bag, change lenses, or find the right button on the camera body while taking pictures of the Aurora Borealis. All the shots needed to be manually focused, which is nearly impossible if you're constantly dilating your pupils with white light while searching for whatever.
It's also super handy around the house. I don't have to try to hold a flashlight between my teeth, or press it to my shoulder with my head when trying to fix/adjust something that needs two hands in a dimly lit place. It's incredibly helpful when swapping RAM sticks or other computer parts.

Got this for the boyfriend since he's got one on his head 24-7. He's pretty rough on things, I know he's gone through a couple of other ones cause the strap or it just broke.
It's been like over a month and he's still wearing it, we haven't had to buy AAA since, and since he has a thing for having it on when he looks at you I know first hand that it's pretty freaking bright!
I'd say I'd buy it again but the good thing is it doesn't look like I'll need to

I've got too many headlamps already but hate the way they all have disposable batteries! These rechargeable headlamps are a smoking hot deal! The light is very bright on bright and nice on low, and, the red is great for low key. Minor gripe is having to go through, hi, then low, then blink - all before its off, but, doing it quickly is no big deal. I'm buying a bunch to stuff stockings with before they raise the price! :-)_

I am a hobbyist mechanic and spend a lot of time under cars. I have been wearing headlamps for a feeble years as it's much easier to wear one that trying to position a shop light in the right place.
This thing is amazing so far! Great light output, long battery life and cheap! I have two more expensive models which require replacement batteries and this thing blows it away. It is very light as well which is a plus if you are wearing it for multiple hours at a time.

I've got several of these at this point and am very pleased. I tend to go car camping and carry phones and LEDs, and being able to charge my headlamp the same way as all my other devices is great. I have one of the "hands-free" headlamps that has a sensor and turns on and off with the wave of a hand, but while it's a neat trick I find having the red light much more useful, both for preserving my night vision and not blinding my fellow campmates. I can charge these from any USB outlet - car, phone, battery pack. My only complaint is that when it's out of juice, it's gone, and it happens all of a sudden. It won't get dimmer as it runs out, which is something of a useful indicator on other AAA-powered lights.
