Way more sturdy and well-made than expected: linen fabric is hardy and doesn't show dirt, the back padding is comfortable and breathable, all zippers and straps are secure, the magnets hold up well, and the branding is more subtle than expected. The laptop pocket is padded and soft, and it doesn't touch the bottom of the backpack (no more slamming laptop on the floor/chair/desk). Main pocket fits 13" MacBook, multiple notebooks, a couple textbooks, and a couple journals no problem. The front pocket holds pens, pencils, chapstick, lotion, sunglasses, and cell phone. The side pockets fit standard water bottles.

Function:
The bag is spacious, with well-padded straps that make it comfortable to wear and interior, side, and front pockets that make it convenient to store smaller items. The buttons snap shut via very strong magnets, which aren't easy to pull off. (Which bring a nice peace of mind in case I'm wearing this while on a crowded train or bus.) I bought the black nylon version, which according to the product description makes this water resistant, but I haven't had the chance to test that yet.
Style:
Details such as the interior red and white striped lining and buckle straps really elevate this design.
I'd also recommend paying $1 for the two bag option. The smaller clutch is well made with an interior and exterior zipper pocket that makes it convenient to carry loose change, my phone, etc., if I want to step out with carrying my entire backpack with me.
The one thing that was off putting was that when I got this bag it had an overwhelming chemical smell emanating from the bag. I left it outside for a day to air out, and it still retained that intense smell. I've been using this for a few days now and the smell is mostly (but still not entirely) gone. I originally purchased the green canvas version of the backpack but did not notice it with that.

Update:I have had the best experience with the customer service at Kaukko. After purchasing the red backpack I had second thoughts about the color and was able to exchange the red for the green. I absolutely absolutely love it. It is the best quality and cutest backpack I could ever have imagined. I'm so thankful that the customer service was as incredible as it was. I highly recommend this company and their products.
I've been wanting a Herschel backpack for months but couldn't justify spending around 100 bucks for a backpack. So when I found this duplicate at a third of the cost I was trepidatious but had to give it a shot and I couldn't be happier. It's amazing quality. The straps aren't cheap feeling and the fabric is very nice. The backpack came in superb packaging aswell.

So incredibly happy that I purchased this backpack for my trip to China last month.
