Feet are nice and wide, doesn't feel cheap or plasticy at all.
The feet themselves are metal, with rubber tips to protect surfaces. The 3/8-16 stud is long enough to be useful but not so long it prevents attachments.
One complaint, the pivoting motion of the base is a bit stiff. This definitely helps if you need to leave a camera standing for a moment, but if you want to swivel it around, you'll definitely want to step on one of the feet first.
I've used this as a monopod base, as well as using it as a "grounder" tripod with a 6 inch stand off and ball head. Screw the stand off to the stud on the base, screw a ball head to the top of the stand off, and you're just above ground level with your shots.
I've already recommended this base to several people both because of cost and quality.

This is exactly what I was looking for, a stout low-level tripod that can hold a lot of weight. It collapses to a very small size even with the addition of the ball head. I love it.

Product quality is good except for the mechanism for folding and unfolding the legs. The design rely on a single spring at each leg does not look very durable, in addition, the metal piece that need to be pulled to fold and unfold the leg are not sturdy.
