This worked great to enable me add an IDE drive to an old computer (running XT) which did not have any additional IDE connectors. It did have an open SATA port and this device allowed me to connect the drive without having to sacrifice the DVD burner. The one thing they do NOT mention is that you still need to have a power connection to the drive as well as another connection to power the board. A "Y" power connector did the trick but needed to order it, causing a delay in bringing the unit back on-line. Thus far (knock on wood) I have not had any errors coming from that drive.
