Great product if used correctly

I ordered this based on a request from our lighting director for our Christmas program. We used it tape down the DMX cables in our church and it worked great. Have already ordered a second roll to have on hand for our next event. Easy to put on, stuck to carpet in our use, and came off without leaving any residue on the carpet. Caution however: Like duct tape, if this stuff sticks to itself you may have to cut it off. One of our helpers just pulled the cable up and the tape curled around and stuck to itself. Had to cut it off. Don't pull the cable up - pull the tape off the cable and it works just fine. You will be happy with your purchase of this product.
Update: We made the second purchase of this product. First purchase worked so well that we decided to keep an additional supply on hand for our next production.

Gaffer Tape is Awesome

I first heard of gaffer tape from a friend studying theater and working stage crew. This particular item lives up to all the great benefits of gaffer tape:
- Matte finish blends in and doesn't reflect light or draw attention
- Leaves no sticky reside when removed
- Holds strong, like duct tape
- Tears easily, both across and lengthwise
I purchased this white roll to "seal" the gap all the way around a balcony door I don't use in my apartment. I was invaded by dozens of Asian lady beetles last fall which just poured through the large gaps around the sides and bottom of the door. After sealing with this tape, no more beetles. Additionally, it sealed up a significant draft. The white matte finish blends right in and is barely noticeable. When I removed the tape for spring cleaning, it came off without leaving any residue and only took off a bit of paint where it was already starting to chip/peel. There were multiple Asian lady beetle victims on the sticky side that had been prevented from getting in, as well as one stink bug.
I also have a black roll of a different brand which I used to cover the built in webcam on my laptop. There are just some odd jobs that call for the strength and utility of duct tape, but the removability you can only get from gaffer tape.

This is the best overall utility tape I've ever used. It's as strong as duct tape but easier to use and it doesn't leave any adhesive residue (at least if removed within a few days -- I didn't leave it on any longer to know how long that will be the case).
I most recently used it in a woodworking project to "clamp" 1/8" thick veneers for an edge-to-edge glue up to make a large panel prior to gluing to a tabletop substrate. Pulling strips of tape first across the joint and then along the joint line,the tape easily held the joint tight and prevented glue squeeze-out on the bottom side until the glue set. I kept the tape on the show side when gluing the veneer panel to the substrate in a vacuum bag, which remained under vacuum for 24 hours. The tape was easily removed even after that much force and time.

Premium Priced Gaff Tape with Questionable Adhesive Quality

I was in a hurry and ordered this brand rather than the other USA made brand I typically get, since The Gaffer Power tape seemed like a deal and had great reviews. The price per foot is actually 60% higher, but seemed lower at a quick glance since it is 30 vs 55 yards.
I'll be using this tape for live audio work this weekend. Initial observations appear similar to other tapes. However, I did notice that there is more adhesive and this is not applied consistently. There seems to be splatters of the stuff, as though the adhesive sprayer was clogging a little. Hoping the tape removes cleanly from customer's site and equipment.

Open Plan Apartment Cable Solution

My son wanted his computer hardwired since it's better for gaming, but the modem was on the opposite wall in his open plan apartment. There was no way to run the ethernet cable around the floor because of the layout, so I ordered 60' of flat CAT6 Ethernet cable and ran it from the modem to a corner, up the corner, across the ceiling down another corner and over to the computer. I used the white gaffer tape to tape the cable so that it would blend in with the walls and ceiling as much as possible. This Gaffer Tape worked brilliantly for this purpose. It holds well, it was easy to smooth wrinkles out while taping and it peels off without taking the paint with it. You forget that the cable is running across the middle of the ceiling very quickly because it's white on white. My son said he may use it to disguise some of the cables that are visible under his desk against the wall since it worked so well.
