This works for wood, but the main problem with a probe style detector is the depth of contact. If you're working with soft woods that are 1+ inches thick then you're not even getting close to the core of the wood. The meter reading won't give you an accurate moisture reading for the core which is what wall cause all the warping. Although you can read the moisture on the end of the board, you'd have to do that right after a cut since this section will dry out quickly. Save your money and buy a higher end unit if you tend to use a lot of green lumber or mill the boards yourself.

The meter is so simple to use, you just need to insert the meter probes into the wood, and then you are good to go, perfect for a home restoration project. I am pleased with the accurate results and fairly good price.

I was looking for a tool which can help me locate a roof leak, so the rapid delivery really helps a lot. Well I located the right spot with its help, but it was a bit destructive with those small holes left in the ceiling. Besides that, I am satisfied.

The tool works exactly as I expected. Now I am able to use this meter to determine moisture content myself to make sure the level is acceptable. Overall this is a nice unit with great sensitivity.
