The body of this clock is steel and you can't fake that look. It has a nice bold red color on it. It's pretty thick, so it's not a clock that hides. It is silent. A good buy, though it's a little pricey for a Chinese made item.

It was silent for a few months, blessed solitude. Then it began making a gurgling sound. I thought the battery may be weak so I replaced it with a fresh, new alkaline. It went quiet for a few weeks, and then the gurgling began again. I'm not going to feed it new batteries every few weeks. At least it's not that awful ticking.
