I get many odd looks and even some laughs when I show up to fish from the bank of the local fishing hole. The others are baffled watching me load up these spring lidded baskets I put on the end of my bottom rig with a bell style weight no more than 3/8 ounce in weight. Then use a large floating boilie or small plastic bobber right above to hold it above the bottom weeds or other foliage. Then I rig whatever size hook I need for the type of fish I'm trying for either vertical so the hook hangs sideways, or with one or more feather type boilied floating type of line between 12" to 18" with cut type of cut bait the same or different from the chum bait I put into the basket. Then from a boat or bank, cast gently out about 10-15 feet and let drop to bottom. Reel in any slack and let fish for me with a fairly tight line with a strike alarm all on 6-10lb test mono or similar to larger if using braided line. Some even bought their own and created their own versions of similar rigs I've described. Most success for catching Catfish, Carp, even perch and crappie if using smaller hooks and adjusting the distance of hooks from the chum basket.
