Works at intended. I haven't had too cold of weather yet, but it seems to be working perfectly for now.
DOES NOT WORK.

TERRIBLE. DOES NOT WORK PERIOD. I installed this cable in hopes my pipes would not freeze this winter. It is now winter and first thing i had to deal with this morning were FROZEN PIPES. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Can we say REFUND?!
Well Made But High Electrical Consumption for Long Lengths

This seems to be a well designed and well made heat tape, with thermostat at the end farthest from the plug and compact enough to make it easy to attach to the pipe and include inside the insulation (so it measures pipe, not air, temperature). The transparent plug includes an indicator light to let you know that there is power to the heat tape.
The only downside is that, at 7 watts per foot, an 80 foot cable consumes 560 watts when in use.

Nice product. Perfect for my project.

Nice heavy cord, Very well constructed. This is a heated cord more than heat tape. I used router and sealed mine inside of a 2x4 with caulk. It's used as a perch for peacocks. They sit on the perch more now. The thermostat works great. Don't have to worry about plug-in and unplug. Board is cool during the day and warm at night. I'm very pleased with the product. The longevity is the only thing in question now.
Works as designed.

This did the job. I'm using this to heat the water in my chicken coupe during the winter. The design worked great and i believe this will do a good job all winter.
