The BEST French Press

I wanted to use this French Press before writing a review because; this is my 3rd French Press in 2 years. The other 2 were glass. The second press I purchased came with a heavier metal casing which I thought would absorb some of the heat so the glass wouldn't crack...but it did. The glass ones were difficult to clean the screens and/or screws would loosen during washing. This French Press is GLORIOUS!! I was hesitant to purchase the metal, but found that it doesn't change the taste of the coffee and is EXTREMELY EASY to clean. There are only 2 pieces (unlike the glass ones) and you just hold the top knob that you see in the picture and the screen comes off easily and to EASY to screw back in place. I love, love, love it! The only drawback is because it's so easy to clean, I make way more coffee!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Thank you!!!

I chose this French press on the basis of: 1/the reviews here on Amazon 2/the fact that it's all stainless steel 3/the capacity 4/its classy look.
So far, this coffee maker is living up to all my expectations: when I take care to measure and grind my beans properly, the coffee it makes is creamy and delicious. It's easy to clean - without the worry of breaking it - the main reason I went for steel over glass this time. (having had to replace at least 3 because I or someone broke the glass carafe.) The capacity is great, too. Highly recommended for a quick and delicious brew with easy clean-up!

I'd never used a French press before, but after watching a few barista youtube how-tos I dove in. I have no way of judging this product from the others on the market, but after studiously scouring the internet to find the best one, my efforts were rewarded once I tasted that first cup. It's so well designed, well constructed, easy to use and very handsome on my counter. I was surprised that it kept the coffee so warm for so long - easily as long as my drip coffee maker (without wasting electricity). I simply put a dish towel over the opening as a cozy and it stayed hot and delicious for about 3 hours. The best part is that that last cup was not bitter at all. In fact, it tasted better than the first. I'm a big tea drinker, too, so I'm looking forward to using it to bring out the best flavors of my bulk teas. For those of you who haven't tried this method yet, go for it. For those who have tried other presses and were not quite satisfied, you'll be pleasantly surprised at the quality of this one.

A good-looking, sturdy coffee press. Should handle many years of use. Holds almost 46 ounces (1360 ml) without dribbling from the spout. About 2 oz are absorbed by coffee grinds, which means maximum coffee yield is about 44 oz- which is about 3 fifteen oz coffees, or 5-1/2 eight-oz coffees. Tips: 1) pre-heat the pot with hot tap water while you heat the brewing water. 2) For a "full" pot, add 2/3 cup ground coffee to the pre-warmed pot, 3) pour the almost-boiling water over the ground coffee, 4) STIR about 30 seconds,
5) place the plunger/lid on the pot and slowly press plunger down. Hint: aim the spout at the sink, or put the whole pot in the sink before you plunge. In the sink is easier for shorter people anyway.
If plunger is very hard to depress, raise it a half-inch and resume pressing down. Coffee stays hot for almost an hour. Pot seems ok on an EXTRA-LOW stove burner for an hour or more.
Great price.
This method actually makes cheap coffee taste better.
Works well for teas also.
Only downsides: a) Not automated.
b) Cleanup is more involved than a drip pot.
c) Tastes best, but uses more coffee.
Amazon's blurb implies an extra screen comes with the pot. Amazons blurb must be written by a robot. You won't ever need an extra screen.
Update, Dec 2017- Loses 1 star because the hollow lid leaks, dribbles dishwater into the coffee.
