I do like the ability to use the remote anywhere within the boat. Don't necessarily like the very large fat controller, but it does work as it should. It works just as good, if not better than the previous.MK that I have owned.

So I wanted the garmin trolling motor at 3k. However at the start of the season my outboard starting acting up and well had to spend the money on that. So I purchased this unit despite the reviews. I have owned it for a couple of months now. I have a group 29 deep cycle and it will go all day 5-6 hours at 50%. I have done 13 trips this season (most of which no fish were caught). It has never failed me. The remote can be finicky sometimes not linking immediately, but that's only at the boat ramp never on the water. If you want to save some money and have a great unit give it a shot. At 30% the cost of some competitors it's worth it.

I finally had a chance to take my 1436 John boat out this week. I have the 46" 55lb thrust edition of this trolling motor. It pulled my boat great even with wind over 10mph that day I was able to maintain a good speed and catch some fish. The remote made it very easy to control from the back of the boat. I have not tried out the foot pedal yet but I assume it is just as effective.

I like having a remote with the foot pedal so that if I get busy doing something, I can still steer. I wish the pedal was more low profile so my foot wasn't so high. I also wish the power on was in a different location on the pedal or less sensitive to the touch. When I rotate between the other buttons, I sometimes turn the power off. Other than that, very powerful and sturdy. In fact I recently had it out was going down the river there was a tree down. Because of the current I could not avoid the tree and it smacked the trolling motor while it was out of the water. I was concerned that I had just blown the trolling motor and my money. Put it down ran it not a glitch. Definitely recommend.
