Easy to mod to keep quiet - hauls people, too!

I finished modding my deer cart. I wanted something to haul gear over potentially rough terrain. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted the ability to move a person who was unable to walk (sick, injured). A deer cart met both needs.

The bars were too far apart so I looked at various panels, eventually just using plywood because it's cheap. It will survive long enough in the rain for my purposes. I put my 180-pound adult son on it and easily pulled him around on smooth surfaces. He said it was comfortable but wobbly, so a bit freaky as the passenger. I left the wood away from the edges both so a passenger wouldn't risk getting pinched and so that the rails are easily grabbed to pull on or lift by. The zip ties are durable enough for as long as I'll need it.

The other problem was the noise. Every connection rattled because of the metal-on-metal washers. It sounded like a drum corps coming down the street. So I added in some rubber washers, used a zip tie to hold the clip when it's opened, and added safety pins to secure the wheels. Now the cart is silent and rolls like buttah.

I'll use this to haul stuff around my yard, but mostly it's for an emergency.

The wood prevents the cart from folding in half because of my zip ties at the overlap joint. I plan to throw the cart into the truck fully assembled, but could cut those overlap zip ties and fold it if necessary. The overlap ties were, again, just to avoid a passenger getting pinched.

PS: I had none of the quality control issues some have mentioned about this cart. Everything was built well, arrived in excellent condition, and had all the parts. Exactly as expected.
Game cart review.

Putting the cart together was relatively easy. I skipped putting the handle on correctly after reading multiple reviews on the poor design for the "correct" way.
The pins and washers for the axle seem to be sufficient. They could stand to be a better fit. I may explore using different items purchased at the local hardware store depending on how they perform.
Packaging was decent and well organized in my opinion.
I will be using the cart in the coming days to move treestands into or around the woods. Will provide additional feedback after doing so.
Shoulda', woulda', coulda'.

Wish I had spent more money for a better one. But I gave it 4 stars because the price was low. I bought this for hauling my bear bait barrels and supplies into a walk in area. I'll be lucky if it lasts me the season. It went together well and had no major issues as far as fit was concerned. The holes that were drilled by the manufacturer weren't deburred so there is ragged metal on some of the holes. The wheels ride on the axle with plastic sleeves (I was almost generous and called them bearings). I'll probably try and find actual roller bearings for it. The clevis pins that hold the axle and wheels in place are really cheap and flimsy, I'm going to replace them with heavy cotter pins or heavier clevises. The clevises that hold the folding handle in place are better and should suffice. They could have done a better job finding washers that actually fit the axle, the included ones are way too big. The wheels do stink as others have noted, but they're not too bad as far as strength of smell. The unit does fold up to a compact package, but you have to remove the two support arms that hold the handle assembly the load bearing platform, so then you have two metal tubes sitting loose somewhere. The handle length leaves something to be desired. If you are around 5 foot tall this cart will be great, however if you are of average height or greater you'll be bent over keeping the handle low enough to raise the platform high enough to roll it. Expect to have a fun time if you're using this in the forest.
All-in-all if you are just going to use this very seldomly it should do okay for you.
Instructions on mods! Then, it's a great little cart

As recommended by others, this cart is a much better creation if the assembly hardware is supplemented and/or replaced. I will include the hardware bits I bought at the end of the review. I put my very substantial sister on the cart and moved it around. She wasn't comfortable, but as the person pulling the cart, I was quite pleased.

The tires are solid, but the quality of the split-pipe spokes is inconsistent, because split-pipe spokes was a stupid idea to begin with. Some of the closer-to-axle ends of the spokes have a tear in the metal where the pipe was split and bent. HOWEVER, when I look at the tire as a whole, the rigidity of the entire structure will not allow the metal to flex in any way, avoiding any metal-fatigue. Under the conditions I mean to subject this cart to, these tires will be just fine.

The cart assembles easily. If you mean to use it for anything serious, you will not want to use the original hardware. I suppose that's the difference if you get a more expensive cart, but I know I'd probably modify anything I bought, spending time and money to customize it, so I don't mind spending another twenty bucks and some time to make it just the way I want it.

Here's what I've changed: Complete and total replacement of axle hardware. Addition of silencing rubber washers to all other joints. Weaving a net directly onto the tubing so it has a carrying surface for wood, bark, branches, and buckets of tree sap. Most "invasive," I split the pull-bar in half, flipped the orientation so that it's two handles to the sides and my butt fits closer to the cart, so I can walk with it pulling behind. This outward-pointing set of handlebars will be the subject of future modification, so that I can easily clip it into a belt an walk hands-free.

AXLE hardware: What fits over the axle properly is a metric 16mm interior diameter (ID). Get 6 metal washers, and get the closest size nylon washers (16mm or a slightly smaller in non-metric) washers. You can grind out or file the ID of the nylon washer so it fits over the axle. Get about 20" of thick wire (#10 baling wire) that fits into the axle pin holes as precisely as possible, and two strong hitch-pins that are also a very precise fit. The wire goes on the inner side of the axle, and is wound partially around the axle to provide a strong lock for the washers next to the frame. The hitch-pins are quiet and strong IF they fit snuggly and you use properly sized nylon and steel washers to secure the tires so they have no wobbles.

OTHER joins: The remaining connections with pins or bolts are noisy because they're meant to be moved whenever the cart is put away. For the permanently bolted joints, get some small rubber washers from the plumbing section, and use them on either side of the metal tubing. For the pinned connections, tape strips of thin sheet-rubber around the tubing, using electrical tape, after cutting matching holes for the pins or bolts to go through. These rubber strips will serve as silencing washers, but unlike washers, they will stay in place when the pins are being taken out or put in.

The other mods, a net and the total redesign of the pull-bar into two handlebars, that's all just me being a tinkerer.
Waterfowl Refuge cart.

First I'd like to say that I ordered this cart based on its price point. I shopped around and all other carts were about double the price of this one. I wanted a cart specifically for waterfowl hunting on California Refuges to help carry all my gear. The cart assembles fairly easy except that the holes on the handle did not line up with the body of the cart. I had to drill the holes to make them bigger in order to line up the hole to get the pin in (minus one star). Once it was all put together I realized the cart was smaller then I'd hope. Regardless, I gave it a chance and loaded my gear. To my satisfaction, everything fit. I loaded two dozen decoys, a stool, motorized lucky duck decoy, and a backpack. I topped all my gear with a Jet Sled and used a bungee cord to secure it. Held it all with ease! The cart is light with wide tires. Haven't taken it in the mud yet but I anticipate it'll do great. For the price, I'm happy with cart.
