VERY GOOD
240 is great, but consider the 250

We have both a Jetstream 240 and 250, you can see the difference in size in the photo. Portacool uses spin molding technology to build these in as few pieces as possible, which translates into a longer lasting evaporative cooler. That is why we stick with portacool over other brands. It will last much much longer and work as good or better.
We have some at work that are 20 years old and still going strong.
The 240 is just enough for our 1000 sq ft garage, but the 250 makes the job look easy and with less noise. If you need a smaller portacool go with 240, but if you can afford the extra cost just do the 250 and enjoy the good choice you just made.

Ordered the portacool and it arrived in about a week. Packaging was great, absolutely no damage. Unpacked, filled the water reservoir and turned it on. Wow, this thing great!

Great product. My friend had a similar model for almost 10 years on his patio and it's still going strong.
There were a couple things with mine when I un-boxed it. None of these things are deal-breakers, but when it's got a huge "Made in the USA" badge, I expected a little better quality control.
1. The fan speed knob was laying on the bottom of the box. I slipped it back on, but it's so loose it doesn't stay on by itself. Will probably lightly glue it on.
2. The screws holding the name badge and the back of the kuul pads were all loose. I just took my screwdriver and tightened everything up.
3. The red pump light doesn't come on at all. I'm guessing I just got one that is non-functional.
I expected and welcomed the loud fan speed air noise, but unfortunately there is a howl that goes along with it that I still need to get used to. It's generated by the wind and I compare it to the likes of blowing over the end of an open bottle. The howl is louder the faster the motor is running. I can say with 100% certainty though, it is not coming from the motor. I think it's just the way the the air travels through the cooler.
The unit seems incredible well built (except for the things I mentioned above) and would recommend it to anyone.
I live in Arizona and it hit 90 the other day and was able to sit comfortably on my patio.
Excellent cooling.
This unit is loud.
The lowest setting is still pretty high.
Love that I can either use the 50 gal tank, or it can be hooked up to the hose for constant topping off.
Would have been nice if they had included a cover when you spend this much cash (bought a bbq for $99 and it had a cover)
