I cut these for my Marineland Emporer filter cartridges. Marineland 280 on my 29-gallon planted goldfish tank, and Marineland 400 on my 55 gallon planted community tank. I have been changing them out every two weeks. These are significantly cheaper than the Marineland cartridges and I don't want carbon filtration on my planted tanks so this fits the bill perfectly. I am able to cut them to size without any waste (maybe a little at the end of the roll but it will take some time to get there.) Great mechanical filtration. That's it.

Wow. Won't be needing to buy filter medium for quite a while! 12"X 6 ft.is a LOT of material, especially for the casual aquarist with just a few tanks. The media is quite tight and we didn't bother cutting to size but simply jammed as much into our 8 filters as possible, allowing for maximum filtration.Within a week bacterial growth was noted and except for our betta tanks with catappa leaves, the water in all our tanks are as clear as bottled. We're very pleased with this product, and would not hesitate to purchase again. (maybe in 6 months!)

I use these to cut into filters for my hangover filtration system, it's far more affordable to take the time to build them yourself. I save about $2 grand per year by just using this with (media and carbon/other ingredients sold seperately)
