I had heard very good things about the Knoweasy auto-strippers from a number of sources for awhile now, and had been meaning to purchase a set for myself for some time. I finally had a decent enough reason to buy them and snagged a pair. But most of the positive reviews that I have heard have focused on the D2 (older version) of the tool, which was mainly made of metal. I was concerned when I saw that the newer versions had transferred to a majority plastic design that they would be lower quality. But seeing that the good reviews had continued to roll in on Amazon, I decided to get the newer version instead.
I had them delivered the other day, and now that I have them in hand, I don't regret my choice at all. The plastic they are using is not a cheap, light plastic. It feels very solid and strong in the hand, and has a very fine finish on it. The edges are nicely finished and well rounded, with no sharp edges. It's very clear that even though they have transferred to a plastic part, Knoweasy has not cheaped out on these tools. If you were holding back because you were worried that the plastic version D3 and D3Ns were not going to be worth the money, rest assured that they are definitely worth it and you'll be glad you got them.

Super easy to use. Just put wire in end & close handles. It cuts the insulation of the tiniest wires & pulls it off! Even has a adjustable stopper so can strip wires the same length! And wire cutter on side is so handy! . They do seem a bit light & are mostly plastic, but, at this price, can just replace them if they break. And it's so much safer & easier than stripping the wires with an exacto knife. DON'T USE TO CUT STEEL WIRES!!!!! (This is my second pair, due to operator error)
Go easy on small gage wire

Strips wire effectively. Only beef is it's a little too effective on small gage wire. If you clamp down hard, it tends to cut some of the individual wires along with the insulation. I found that this can be avoided by clamping gently rather than with full force. Other than that caution, it works perfectly.
