Would have been an awesome tool had they not cheaped out with a PLASTIC DRILL guide!!?? Seriously? Do you test your own products?? Lasted for approximately 6 doors and then destroyed door 7.....the drill bit was cold when I went to drill door 7...on a different day...do yourself a favor and keep looking and don't send your dollars and wood working in to die.
Great design, cheap bit!

This product is an absolutely great idea. It has many time saving benefits. That being said, I used it for the first time, and while boring the fourth hole into in a piece of solid oak, the edge of the bit came in contact with an 18 gauge galvanized brad air nail (which are a lot softer than standard finish nails), and it sheared one of the outer teeth on the bit completely off. I have used mid-grade forstner bits in the past which were much more durable than the bit that comes with this jig.
Good but has limits.

The jig would have worked as promised (designed) if I had not needed to move the hinge pockets further in from the edge another 1/16". I still used the jig by moving it further onto the door panel (1/16") and shimming it (1/4") to be level then clamping it securely. The bit and jig worked beautifully (four hinges on MDF); it just does not accommodate a deeper hinge pocket for Blum 71T655180 Face Frame Hinges.
Jig works once you figure out the hinges come with the offset you need.

Works wonderfully if you understand that the hinges come with an offset and you only need the minor offsets allowed by this jig. Took me some research and figuring to get this straight in my mind. Once I got the fact that the hinge is already offset, the jig worked perfectly for me. Better instructions would have saved me time.
I didn't have any issues with the bit getting dull, so maybe they fixed that.

I was a little worried after reading the reviews about dull bits, but I decided to try it anyways. I made 12 holes in oak and my bit stayed sharp. I did baby the bit, because I was worried. Backing it off and blowing out the chips a couple times per hole and going easy on the speed/feed rate. Heat from speed/feed rate kills bits. I think the people that had issues knew what they were doing, so they probably really did get a bad bit. Even with the extra seconds spent being cautious with the bit I was able to knock out 6 doors in about 30 minutes, including learning time. Made it much less stressful than using a template and free hand drilling.
