Bought two, one went bad in a week, other is great (updated)

Updated review-only 1 of 2 units was bad. The issue with the first unit was actually with my plug and the unit works well. I returned unit 2 and, to be honest, have bought a new one to see if it was a fluke. If unit 3 works out fine I will update to 4 stars and if another failure back down to 1 star.
Bought two of these units based on the number of positive reviews on Amazon and have been disappointed with both of them. First unit worked fine initially however it now goes out each time I re-plug it in and won't stay on. The second unit also seemed fine at first however it is now reading temps, after a couple days, MUCH higher than they actually are. When holding the probe in my hand it is reading 112f. In a room where 2 other thermometers are reading 75f and 77f this thing is reading 102f. Needless to say it can't accurately control heating/cooling functions if it can't stay on or read accurate temps. Both will be returned for a different brand.

Excellent Versatile Product for the Money

I purchased this to control cooling in order to vent hot air from the ceiling area in my network closet. I installed a through-wall fan and plugged it into this unit. I really like the ability to set thresholds to turn on the cooling outlet at a certain temperature and turn it off again when it cools down a configurable delta of degrees. It works perfect. I set it so when the network closet ceiling area reaches 85 degrees, it turns on the fan using the cooling outlet. When the temperature probe detects the temperature has reached 82 it switches off the outlet. The probe cord is about 10 feet long, which makes it very handy to measure the temperature exactly where you need to. There is also a Heating outlet for turning on and off devices based on heating. I have not used that feature, but I am really impressed with the reliability and features I am using. There are also several calibration settings. Overall, I can highly recommend.

So far so good. Got it to put under a camper. Like that I can set a temperature and have an electric heater hooked up and it will turn the heater on so nothing freezes. There seems to be a five degree difference from another thermometer we have nearby so we just raised the temperature on the controller just in case it is the controller that is off. If this lasts a couple of years or more would definitely buy again.

I have been using this with a fermentation chamber and it seems to work pretty well, and is reasonably easy to use.
I rated 4/5 stars because I would actually like to see the plugs be on the bottom of the unit to make for a better wall-mounting setup. I noticed that the connector for the probe seems to be very sensitive so that if it gets bumped or any pressure applied to it, it will wig out and behave as though the sensor is removed until you stop touching it or remove pressure.
A nice to have feature would be an option to limit the amount of runtime for the heat cycle so as to avoid melting either fermenters or the inside of the fridge. This is only really an issue if you are using an incandescent bulb, ceramic heat emitter or if you are one of the crazy people that put an actual heater in your chamber. This can also be solved by stress testing your system ahead of use and properly sizing the heat source ahead of time. There aren't any temp controllers out there with this function builtin as far as I am aware.

Kimchee Fridge

Using this to convert a chest freezer into a Kimchee Fridge. With commercial Kimchee fridges costing about $1000.00 This device with a $150 chest freezer is an excellent inexpensive solution. Setup took just a few minutes and the freezer is sitting at 32 degrees and only varies a couple degrees. Using this device I did not have to alter the freezer in any way to implement the solution thereby keeping the waranty fully intact.
