I enjoyed the Strength Training, Core, Coordination, and Cardio with Curtis Adams ("For Active Seniors") in a DVD I recently purchased . After trying out the whole 35 minute exercise set, I found the exercises within my (senior) level range of motion . One of the team demonstrated modified exercises, i.e. while seated, while Mr. Adams encouraged seniors to remember to breathe during exercise, as well as to rest , hydrate, and/ or modify as needed. I highly recommend this DVD for seniors!

This is my 3rd Curtis Adams DVD. His exercises are different from other "older adult" series: They're energetic (I always end up sweating a bit) and they incorporate some boxing moves (this one has less boxing than the others). This DVD comes with a resistance band. My recommendation is if you have another band, follow Curtis' directions to tie it up in a little ball (which is used for some tossing) before you start, or if you don't have another band, definitely pause the DVD to do the tying. I struggled to follow him while the DVD was running.
This DVD is a bit longer than the others. There is a nice variety of exercises, and you'll feel like you've worked out in the end.

I have a bookcase full of senior exercise videos! Just to give an idea where I'm coming from, I have many of Jane Adams' videos, and also Peggy Cappy, and Anne Pringle Burnell. (All available here on Amazon, and all recommended by me.) However, this video is different. Here's why: on days when my arthritis is flaring up, I reach for the "sitting workouts", as described above. But on days when I'm feeling stronger and I want something more challenging, Curtis' workout is what I reach for. I especially like that there is some cardio, which I don't get with yoga. However, there is NO JUMPING, therefore, NO IMPACT. There are one or two "moves" that I cannot do (because of arthritis in my back), so at that point, I sit on a chair and follow the gal (Linda). So, what I'm saying is that I can follow 85 to 90% of the workout with Curtis, and hopefully, as I get stronger, I can work up to doing most, if not all of it while standing. Curtis is pleasant & encouraging, which makes the workout fun. If you're not sure if you want to purchase the DVD, he has a few videos on YouTube that you can try out (they're not complete workouts, but you can get an idea of what he has to offer - that's what I did.) BTW, I am 72 yrs. young!!

New Year's resolution to get in better shape, so I bought the Vitality 4 Life DVD to exercise by. Fantastic workout! I am out of shape, but just in two weeks feeling more energetic. And it works as well for my sister who exercises regularly. Works cardio, strength and balance.
