This is a terrific device! It's the easily portable WORD OF GOD! I had it already in the KJV but this is the NKJV. The KJV is my standard, but the NKJV speaks in more modern terms. They are very similar but the NKJV is easier to understand! Having that kind of access to the WORD OF GOD (It's so portable), I don't know how you could top it!

so glad this company is making a perfect talking bible. since my stroke I have lost half of my vision making it impossible to read my bible. thsnk God this company makes an affordable way for me to do my daily ready. memory remembers where you left off find book chapter easily with the included codes. very clear audio. with volume control. buy it you will love it

I purchased two of these as Christmas gifts. One for my sister-in-law who has had medical issues and is having trouble with her eyes, the other for my very religious sister that is handicapable, she can not read and although I have downloaded the Bible on her tablet, like other apps, she gets ads or notifications pop up on the screen at which time she will end up touching a link and ending up being in the App Store or on safari and then she has trouble getting back to the correct place. This is wonderful for her and she uses it like a radio when she goes for walks, with her ear buds in. She turns it on and off and can switch from New to Old Testament and Meditation music with just the one button and it Always starts back where it left off, she even uses the rewind (back) & forward buttons, she doesn't use the numbers to listen to specific verses and that is fine.
this was totally worth the money. I worried and fretted over buying this for her and I'm so glad I decided to try. Nothing is worse than her getting a gift that she needs constant help using, she wants to be independent even though she lives with me. She loves electronic devices, however I have learned over time she does not like them to look like a child's toy. She is almost 60 and wants adult products. She shows it to everyone, best gift I have found for her in a long time.

This Bible player is excellent. It is thoughtfully engineered and a pleasure to the ear and spirit. It runs a long time on a charge and the speaking is clear. Once you read the instructions, you will find the Bible to be easily navigable on this player. The volume control from low to high is superb. The ear and speaker jack works great, and I plug it into my car speakers to listen to the Truth while driving. The meditation music is peaceful and quiet, conducive to thinking on the Word. The Operating Manual included is very clear and contains several extra features that I enjoyed reading. Being a septuagenarian, the only bit of difficulty I have had is that the NKJV reading is a little too rapid for me to take in, so I have found myself pausing it from time to time to think on what I just heard. As it turns out, this practice has been helpful to my good digestion of the rich Word. My favorite time to listen is just as I close my eyes to a serene sleep. This is even sweeter than my 1969 practice of sleeping with my Bible under my pillow in Vietnam.

... but I've had more failed attempts than I can count. I think this product is going to make that goal attainable for me.

It is my intention to read the bible in it's entirety over the course of a year.
Along the way, I've discovered that I comprehend this type of literature best when I can listen and read at the same time.
This device allows me to input the exact book & chapter that I'm "assigned" for any particular day.

I am using this player in conjunction with the Life Application Study Bible NKJV
as well as one of the schedules from BibleStudyTools.com. (But a simple google search for bible reading plans will provide many options.)

I purchased the Kindle version of the study bible, (which allows me to enlarge the text to a comfortable size, jump to specific readings and then to the relevant study discussions.) This combination of tools cements my comprehension experience and has made the bible totally accessible to me -- for the first time ever, I feel that I am understanding, (and enjoying), what I am reading.

It takes a mere 15 minutes a day to do my routine, but of course, one could listen straight through if they desired to do so.

Pros of this device:
--lightweight. Is small and portable, but not so small that it gets lost.
--easy to operate, once you understand how it works
--clear and pleasant enunciation of the text
--arrived fully charged and appears to retain its charge well
--clear digital display of reading location and battery level
--many different versions of the bible are available (AMP, KJV, NASB, NIV, NKJV, NLT, NRSV at the time of this review)
--the dmbibleplayer.com website has an instructional video, which is very helpful.
--does not require the internet to be used

Cons:
--the font of the manual is small, so it's uncomfortable to read - it is necessary for learning the device. (I did not have internet access at the time of it's arrival, so was dependent on the manual.)
--If you don't know the book numbers & want to navigate to a specific book/chapter, you need to look them up in the manual - which is a cumbersome. I experimented with a few ways around this. Pic #1 shows a list of the track numbers taped to the back of the device. This was too small for my aging eyes, so I made a little tag with packing tape and attached it to the back. (Pic #2) Problem solved.
--the numbers and symbols on the buttons are embossed but not inked, so it's difficult to see them. (I may ink them in with a Sharpie)
--expensive

Overall, this is a terrific device and the "Pros" far outweigh the "Cons"
My biggest issue was the cost - but at the end of the day, I'm very happy to have this device and believe that it is money well spent.
