Great Quality Filter and Cap, Cold Brew Coffee and Tea, Simple and Effective!
Commander Data✓ Verified Purchase•November 20, 2017
Great simple, economical process for brewing Cold Brew Coffee and Tea, the filter is very nice quality and is durable. The Ball Jar is "Ball" and not some cheap imitiation. Included lid with seal is a nice touch and does not leak, but takes some care in locking it down since the seal grips the filter and jar and adds some load against the threads. Not as easy vs. the regular Ball lids with bands which are a breeze to install.
I initially had one of these and was using it to Cold Brew Coffee and Tea at diffferent times, due to demand and not wanting to cross or contaminate the flavor, I recently picked up another and will use one for Tea and the other for Coffee. Even with a coarse grind, I still noticed trapped grinds stuck in the filter, could not get them out perhaps if placed in the dishwasher but I have not tried this method yet?
I still get some sediment which I read is common with this method, no big deal as it stay's on the bottom of the jar when pouring. The directions are straight forward but I still cannot match the flavor of Peet's Baridi Cold Brew which is bold and smooth, which I like. Peet's sells the Baridi Blend Beans specially for Cold Brewing, will give that a try to see if I can match the bottled version.
For tea, I use 4 to 5 tablespoons of loose leaf tea and brew in the fridge per the directions, get great results and bought additional Ball jars or various sizes to store up a week's worth of cold brew tea and/or coffee for a week.
I looked into Cold Brew due to my sometimes sensitive stomach, gastritis issues that pop up occasionally when I drink too much of that highly acidic coffee at work and reading how the reduction in acid % of cold brew, lookedl like a win win for me and so far it has helped. Looked at some of the drip systems and other higher cost Cold Brew methods, but after some research I narrowed it down to a simple filter mesh in a ball jar and this was it.

I was skeptical about how gimmicky this was, but am very pleased with my purchase of it

I drink iced tea year round, and this simplified the process of making my daily supply of iced tea. the mesh is a bit tricky to clean, but I find that a bottle brush solved that problem. the jar makes/holds a half gallon of tea and I'm honestly thinking about buying a second one of these jars so I can make a full gallon of tea when I have company over. well worth the price paid for this though. I was skeptical about it seeming gimmicky when I bought it, but I was looking for a reusable solution to make my tea in that wasn't plastic jugs of tea that I would purchase drink the tea and then reuse the plastic jug before tossing it into the recycling bin. this glass mason jar is easier to clean that those jugs were, and has saved me money because I'm not having to buy a new jug of tea every couple weeks for a new jug. So this isn't as gimmicky as I thought it would be and has paid for it's self over time
Solid quality and simple to use for great cold brew coffee.

I have been using this filter for a few days now and made a few batches of cold brew coffee. The filter and silicone seals have a very durable feel to them and has been very easy to empty and clean in between batches. The bottle and brewing inserts arrived in perfect condition and were well protected in the box. The included manual has some nice basic tips as well as recipes for coffee drinks. I highly suggest buying an additional 2 Quart mason jar or 2 as I did to have an additional jar brewing while enjoying your current brew.
BEST & EASIEST & CHEAPEST & STURDIEST COLD BREW COFFEE MAKER
J. Roberts✓ Verified Purchase•June 27, 2017
BEST cold brew coffee maker available. We've tried a few of the expensive ones. Most are messy to work with & glass was fragile. The thing that makes this one work so well is the fine mesh stainless steel filter & silicone ring. Right out of the box (after washing of course) we poured coarse ground coffee into the strainer leaving 1" on top (diidn't even measure) then watched the filtered water flow through at a quick pace filling the bottle with an initial tea like color. It instantly turned darker after a quick shake. Into the fridge for 12-14 hours (we're still testing this part out) makes for smooth testing coffee. To never have to buy more filters is a triumph! Just dump the used grounds out, wash the funnel you're set to immediately brew a new batch. So easy! No more expensive filters or messy contraptions cluttering our countertop. We like the simplicity and quality of this product! Product was well packed with instructions and recipes. The only thing that would ever need replacing would probably be the silicone ring. Otherwise this is a very well made and solid product. Get this one, you won't regret it.
The Best Cold Brew Kit
Amazon Customer✓ Verified Purchase•April 27, 2017
This is by far the best cold brew kit I've ever found. I've never seen a micro filter mesh that was so rugged and easy to clean.
Just enjoyed my first brew using this. To ensure the filter drained before dumping the grounds, I used a mesh lid accessory for canning jars and placed the filter on top so it would drain into jar and dry the grounds a little more.
I wish I could give it an additional 5 stars for not just being super simple and easy to clean so I can now buy a few more jars and keep a constant supply of cold brew in my fridge not to mention the fact that I can use existing canning jar accessories with this just adds to its value.
I'd become fed up with the other cold brew options that required large or bulky pitchers that made too much to use for a single person because the filters were too short to reach the bottom where the water was and required you to fill them up to max capacity to get a decent brew. I also didn't like the other products because they had a pour spout you couldn't completely close to prevent fridge odor and oxidation of the brewed coffee.
This solves both problems. Deep filter that lets you make smaller or extra strong batches, and the ability to completely seal the jar until I'm ready to drink the coffee.
This is so good, I bought a few more as gifts.
