I am beyond happy with these heaters! We moved into an 80 year old 1,000 sq ft house with ONE cadet heater in the living room. Our windows are drafty, there's a large boarded up brick fireplace, and one very large concrete wall... needless to stay this house is COLD. I ordered two of these heaters a couple of months ago and I'm so thankful we chose them. We leave one in the living room on 24/7, and adjust it to a lower setting at night and when we leave the house. The other mostly stays on the other side of the living room when we're home, but we move it into the bedroom at night. These are radiators... they take a little while to heat up, and even longer to feel the affects in a room. But they're great base heat in a large area and help us maintain a reasonable temperature in the house. We have occasionally turned on the cadet heater for a few minutes on cold mornings- but overall, my last two electric bills have been about $60 less each month!

Pelonis has another radiator that is essentially the same, but has more "housing" around it that prevents the heater from being hot to the touch. I believe it's listed as: Pelonis Space Heater in Steel Cover. If you have young children that would be intrigued by the heater, get the one with the extra housing. Even at it's highest setting, it doesn't burn unless I left my hand there for a long time. However, I notice THIS heater puts off more heat than the housed heater. My pets (and myself) have leaned against it before and never been burned, but I also never have to put it on the highest setting.
Good Heater But Not The Best

Summary: This is a good heater for a good price, but it's not the best option.

Pros: Excellent heat output, virtually silent, as efficient as electric can be.
Cons: Super loud beeps when buttons are pushed, Cannot select temperature precisely.

This is the first oil-filled radiator heater that we bought, but we didn't like it well enough, so when we needed another one we did not purchase another one of this model. It does a good job, and I'm not going to get rid of it or anything like that, but I don't like a couple of the details about it. Sometimes when I'm checking the kids' bedroom at night after they've gone to sleep, I wish I could make quiet adjustments to it, but the beep that it makes whenever a button is pushed is super loud.

Really, though, my biggest gripe about this heater is that I couldn't select the temperatures that I wanted. I am well aware that all electric heaters have a decent amount of inaccuracy with how warm a room is compared to what the heater's temperature gauge says, so sometimes I wanted to set the heater to a cooler temperature, for example 60*, to just provide a little bit of output. This heater doesn't have such an option; 65* is the coolest it allows. In other cases, I wished that I could just increment the heat 1 or 2 degrees warmer, and again, that's not an option. This heater only allows increments of 5*. I hope this review benefits someone who hasn't ever bought a heater of this variety before, and is not sure how well they will like having a heater that doesn't allow the user to select a precise temperature by 1* increments: I personally didn't like it. Other than that, this is a good heater.
you want heat in your cold room? get this oil filled heater!!!!!

I usually don't write reviews for things I buy on amazon.com unless they really impress me. this oil filled heater impresses me. I live in a room in my basement. my room has 2 closed doors. the radiator is in the other part of my basement far away from my room, so I don't think the heat from that radiator will be able to reach my room with my 2 doors closed, so I decided to buy an oil filled heater to keep my basement room warm in the winter. I initially bought a pelonis heater from homedepot.com and for some reason, I had problems with it and had to return it. Anyways, i bought this heater by pelonis on amazon because it was rated as the best deal for an oil filled heater. this heater heats up very good in my basement room. it has everything you want in an oil filled heater. al though oil filled heaters are known to take some time to heat up, this heater heats up PRETTY QUICKLY in my opinion. I keep it on 70-75 in eco mode to try and save as much as possible on my electricity bill. if you want an oil filled heater that has everything you want for and is affordable, get this heater. I am telling you, it's incredible. So, i am going to wrap this up. BUY THIS OIL FILLED HEATER. keep it in 70-75 in ECO MODE and your room will be warm for the whole winter.
Very happy!

Bought some of these as supplemental heat for our 120 year old house. Our 2nd floor bedroom is the coldest room in the house as it's the furthest from the furnace, and it does a great job of heating it up quickly. Love the settings - nice range of options, very easy to use and adjust. The timer is a nice feature because I'll set it for 2 hours before bed and not have worry it's on all night. Came with remotes which is cool.

If you've never used this style heater before, it is not like an electric ceramic heater where it blasts hot air instantly. You do need to turn these on and let them "warm" up. Once they get going they are great. Don't put it in a large open room and expect miracles. Our bedroom is large-ish, but enclosed and the heat stays trapped and makes the room toasty. It doesn't heat our living room as well - but again - large "open" room where the heat is allowed to escape, so we don't expect miracles here and have since stopped using it in there.

As for heating costs - I honestly haven't kept close track this winter. Our winters range from months of 10 to -20 weather so our main heater comes on a lot anyway and our electric bill has gone up accordingly. I doubt these heaters have contributed a major amount either way. I figure a higher bill is worth it for a few months if you can stay comfortable.
Safe, quiet and good heat

I had my central air/heat off for awhile and was waiting on a part. I live in a mobile home which isn't well insulated and needed something to carry over. I also have an electric space heater.
While mobile homes are notorious for being uninsulated, this heater was easy to use and the radiant heat maintained a comfortable room temperature.
While the temperature outside dipped into the low 40's and near freezing at times, it did a good job on its own for the living room. I'm guessing it could handle much colder temps as a sole source of heat, likely into the 20's or below if a couple more units were used in other parts of the trailer.
I'm waiting on my electric bill to see how this did, but I am assuming it will be better than the electric space heater and certainly cheaper than the central air heat which will run constantly when its 40 degrees outside and set in the mid 70's..
Now that I have the central air heater working again, I keep that at about 70 degrees and use the radiant heater on 65 or 70 to keep the central unit from running all time.
Overall I am very happy with this product, its heat output, the ability to control the temperature, safety and also the ability to use it as a supplecment to the main heating system. If anything it might put out too much heat and need to turned off at times.
