Our swivel kitchen chair was wobbly and unstable. Someone ...

Our swivel kitchen chair was wobbly and unstable. Someone was going to get injured if we did not fix the problem. I took the chair to a furniture repair shop and was told they were unable to remedy the problem completely and we would need a new base. Looking online, the price of the chair base was over $200. Then my husband and I watched a video on how to repair a swivel chair. He took the broken part out of the base of the chair, handed it to me, I found the part online and ordered it. When it arrived my husband was able to replace the broken part within a few minutes and the chair is now stable and ready to be sat on without a dangerous wobble, and was way less expensive than replacing the base.
If it wasn't for the profit the price wouldn't be so high.

It's a little pricy for a plastic piece that cost $5.17 each 42-months ago, (up 144%) but it's better than tossing out the stool because it squeaked when pivoting.

Easy to install. Saved big bucks because we didn't have to buy new chairs.
Very important to measure diameter.

The diameter measurement for your chair is important. There are several different sizes. Happily I checked and found the right diameter. Getting the old sleeve out required a large dowel (old hammer handle) and a heavy hammer. Check YouTube for procedure. I had to hammer pretty hard to get the old sleeve out. And it took a few blows to get the new sleeve started. Ten minutes work and done.
