This is my first belt/disc sander and I LOVE IT! I purchased several WEN power tools for my shop and they are great!. Came ready to use out of the box....almost....I had to put the tables on but that took like 5 minutes. The belt and sanding disc were already installed. I bought this to make knives and WOW does it work well. I have used it to shape 440C steel and wood. The belt and disc are very well made.

It's ok for a little sander. Not too heavy so it moves around a lot. As a entry level tool I'm pretty satisfied with it.

The machine runs pretty quietly but it does vibrate a bit so I would say the bearings and rollers are mid/ low grade. There is also a lot of plastic where it should be metal.

Overall it's not as impressive of a deal as some of wen's other tools

Little cheaper looking than I expected. The work rests and mounting hardware leave a bit to be desired. Thing fired right up though. The 1" belt didn't walk at all right out of the box. The thing I do like about this unit is the power and speed. This thing powers through stuff that would bog down my larger HF belt/disc combo sander.

wonderful little sander. the belt section is easy to access, switch belts and track the belts to center. There is a metal plate behind the belt so that sharpening chisels, scissors, knives and other hand tools is very easy. The motor is strong, and I have not noticed any bogging down during my use. I used this, straight out of the box, for nearly 3 hours and had no motor issues whatsoever. The deck on the belt is difficult to keep tight, so it frequently falls if I rest any tool on it. I chose not to use the deck anymore, and just sharpen my tools free-hand. The disc section is junk. The pad is glued to the machine, so in order to change pads I had to use a heat gun to pull the pad off, then clean the adhesive remnant with mineral spirits. I added a hook and loop pad to the disc section and just buy hook and loop disc paper for it. problem solved. the deck for the disc is better than the deck for the belt, but it is still pretty flimsy. The angles on the decks are not accurate. The base is sturdy, and I have not had any walking, wobbling or balance issues so far. I have put about 20 hours on this machine in the past 3 weeks and have already ordered another one for my brother for christmas.

This is my first WEN product. I was hesitant to purchase it due to the low price and expecting to "get what you pay for". Well, I was wrong. I have used this for two days, a few hours each day. The belts are still intact and have not had to make any adjustments. I am not 100% convinced the instructions were correct, but if you use your head, logic and common sense, the installation works out. This is a well made sander with a powerful motor.

I have also borrowed the H.F. version of this sander and prefer WEN. The quality is comparable, but the price of the WEN is much better and the setup was much easier.

You will not go wrong with the WEN belt sander.
