This is a good thermometer- it's very sensitive.
The only things I don't care for is you HAVE to have the thermoscan filter on for it to take a temperature..kind of annoying when you're trying to quickly take your kids temp. It comes with a box of 20, but you have to have one on for it to work, so just a heads up. Another quirk is the screen doesn't light up..this is incredibly frustrating when taking a child's temp at night while trying to let them sleep. Otherwise it's a great thermometer!

not sure what to think. Repeated temps done in a row all gave different numbers. It should be spread apart for sure but just wanted to see. I know the brand itself is a good one.

I purchased this for taking the temperature of my squirmy infant after too many attempts wrestling with a VERY slow 3-in-1 thermometer under the armpit. It was on sale and cost just a bit more than a standard oral thermometer and I needed something that was safe to use with a baby. This gives me a reading in seconds and is easy to use. Due to the nature of the device and in-ear temping, I usually take a couple readings in each ear for accuracy. It's not uncommon for one ear to read higher than the other but I have found the average readings similar to what we get with our other thermometer. Because of how fast and minimally invasive using this is, it is easy to repeat often. I do wish the readout screen had a backlight option so you could read it in the dark, but I didn't feel it necessary to pay significantly more for a more advanced model just for that one feature.
I don't care for the little hygiene shields (I think they are called lenses or filters) that are required for use. They sometimes pop off and using a fresh one every time feels really wasteful. Plus it adds to the overall cost of using this device. I end up reusing the same one for the same person during a single bout of illness.
If you could just sanitize this between uses in the same way as an oral thermometer instead of dealing with those pesky plastic shields, it would have 5 stars.
