I only use this to cut plastic zip ties & 22 gauge wires. It's sharp, small enough to go into tight places, but big enough to cut all sizes of plastic zip ties. I don't think it would be in the same league as Knipex but then again Knipex would run you $35.

If you follow the recommended size limitations, this is a very good side cutter for wire, plastic ties, etc. The jaws of this cutter are precision ground for a perfect straight line cut.

There is no reference and/or marking anywhere to tell the country of manufacture. The item description mentions Japan, but the only language on the package is English, and no mention of any country.

UPDATE - After one week, there appears to be a very very light coat of rust on the cutter head. No big deal, but the metal surface will have to be wiped with an oiled cloth periodically.
