For people who understand true UV (not "make my room blue"), this is nearly perfect

I just ordered my second bulb for next Halloween, this thing is nearly perfect for my UV porch display. As a reference, I enclose my porch to keep it pitch black and have specially treated my props to glow under UV. Contrary to popular confusion, anything "white" isn't necessarily supposed to glow - for untreated white objects if they do glow it means you actually have a poor UV light that is giving off too much visible blue/violet light. Using this bulb as a spotlight aimed at the props, the porch stayed pitch black while the props just "popped" at about 8' away - I might actually cover the bulb with some mesh next year just to dim it down a bit. It's useful that it stays cool so I have more flexibility in where to position the fixtures.
To be fair, it might not be enough if you are trying to get a blacklight effect in an area that isn't dark to begin with. For my outdoor displays under a streetlight I use multiple 48" BLB fluorescent theater-grade bulbs, but then you're talking way more money and a less convenient fixture to mount.

Works, but low output (2w)

I was initially disappointed in this light. It was very dim and did not produce a lot of light. It was being used as part of a decoration. I went out and bought a $5 15w cfl blacklight to use instead, however the cfl actually did not produce as much light as this 2w bulb and ended up using this LED light.
I stuck it in front if a white sheet and while nothing around it was illuminated (in visible light), the whole sheet glowed brightly from 2-3 meters away. So it works, and works very well. Still it is a small low powered light I think it was a bit much to pay, but I like it

Doesn't Beat a Compact Fluorescent

I compared the two bulbs above. I used my cellphone camera in pro mode (ISO400, 1/4s shutter, 6500K, F1.5) to standardize it. I moved a white pillow from close up to just about 20 feet away. In short the LED shines slightly dimmer than the Florescent bulb further away (pictures)... but you really wouldn't notice if it came down to it. I think you'd be better off if you could get your hands on a 15W florescent, one LED doesn't make a difference, however if there were 3 LEDs in the bulb then it would've probably won by a landslide.
The Florecent Bulb is a Feit bulb, its 20$ tho. They were old and lying around don't ask, low key better.

More UV less visible light

The best use for this is to view fluorescent materials up close. Because it puts out 365nm UV, it has a higher UV to visible light ratio than many other blacklights, so the purple tint is greatly reduced. Rocks that look pink under a cheaper blacklight looks orange under this light. There is still some visible purple light. The only way to further improve the UV-to-visible light ratio is to add an UV-pass filter. However this light is not the best for adding such filter. UV-pass filters are expensive, so you want a light with a small aperture, thus requiring a small filter.
Due to the low output (2W), it's best for using up close
I put this in a desk lap with a goose neck.

Reduced amount of visible light

This bulb puts out a very light amount of visible light, wish might be just what you're looking for.
Works with manganese glass and that sort. (Uranium glass to of course.) Plus works on calcite and fluorite crystals.
