Better than a big, cold, flat bassinet.

If you're like me, you initially registered for or bought a flat surface bassinet with all the bells and whistles.. What a mistake. Newborns don't even like to lie flat, and they most certainly don't like to lie in a big, cold bassinet / pack n play / crib, or what have you (even when swaddled). After unsuccessfully getting our baby to sleep in the highly rated Halo Bassinet, I searched the internet for something cozier.
Enter this SwaddleMe bassinet. In terms of design, it's nothing to write home about. The sound and vibrations add-on is cheap and doesn't really do it for me (or the baby), but the simple fact that it's cozy and has incline options helps the child stay asleep longer. Before buying this bassinet, our baby would only sleep soundly in his Rock n play. Now I can put him to bed in this bassinet and not feel guilty that he's sleeping in something other than a bassinet.
The incline is great for reflux, and you have the option to drop it to the flat level, so your baby can learn to lie flat.

And finally we can sleep

This is our baby's third bed, which seems rediculous for someone who weighs the size of a house cat. I am now sleeping with about 14" of real estate between the swaddle me and the arms-reach in our oh so cozy queen bed. I took one for the team and gave my husband a luxurious 24" of room and hope that this will kick start our tandem postpartum weight loss plans. The arms-reach serves as an expensive barrier to keep me from rolling to the floor when I try to sit up. Though I'm sure it will come in handy later.
That said, I just slept for 7 hours (not straight of course! that's silly) with a 6 day old baby that has only let me sleep for a total of 4 hours per night since he got home. I feel like people again, kind of. Baby likes that he can stare at me and I don't have to worry about my husband rolling on him, so no more couch for him. I might be investing more in chiropractor care but we are all still winning here.
Someone recommend this doc a tot thing but pennies were saved and sleep was had for much less with the swaddle me. Newborns just want to be close to you, and this let's us be inches apart but in a much safer way.

NOT SAFE

I don't write reviews often but wanted to bring attention to a significant safety issue with this co-sleeper. If you look at my photo, my finger is pointing to a piece that support the top frame of the co-sleeper. There are four of these that fold up.
My daughter has hit her head on them while sleeping many times. Waking up screaming. There is essentially no padding at all on these pieces other than being covered in fabric. After a few times we decided to return it.
If your child moves at all, I highly recommend a different co-sleeper. This has a significant flaw that needs to be addressed.

Update: Mold, pad is not water proof, liner is not washable

Update: At first (See review below) I loved this product! But, unfortunately, the pad provided is not water proof and mold developed inside the pad. It was hard to see, until we held it up to the light. I'm very disappointed and rather disgusted now. We threw it out and would not recommend anyone else purchase this product. Aside from the pad not being water proof, there is no way to remove the mayerial covering the sides and bottom of the cosleeper. So if your child spits up, you cannot remove the liner for washing!! I had to manually wash it in my tub... Please avoid this product!!
Perfect place for a sleeping newborn! I bought this for my third child and wish I would have bought it for the first. We have a king sized bed and it fits well in between my spouse and I. It makes night time feedings a lot easier and it is easy to clean.

Mattress could be firmer/flat

This bassinet helped us keep a close eye on our newborn baby for about 2 weeks then as our baby gained weight we noticed that the mattress wasnt firm enough to keep our baby flat on it cause the bassinet would shape kinda like a hammock.,it was great in the beggining, but it did not last long.
