Amazing !!!!! Best piece of camping equipment I’ve ever bought
David✓ Verified Purchase•August 16, 2023
I don't do reviews. BUT !!!
I have to say that I do a lot of camping. And this is DEFINITELY worth the money !!! It isn't cheap !!!
But, I can leave it on in my camper night after night so that I have some light when I wake up in the middle of the night and I'm not draining my camper batteries !!! ALSO, I hardly ever have to charge it. The red light that blinks every few seconds or so makes it always easy to find !!! AND IF needed as a last resort I can charge my phone a bit with it.
ABSOLUTELY the BEST piece of camping equipment I've ever bought !!!
Oh ya never loose the charging cord because you store it in the bottom of the lantern.
YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED !!!!!

Durable lantern, decent battery capacity, USB and USB-C outputs

Lantern was purchased for elderly friend to have emergency lighting in the home in case of power outage. My below comments are in that mindset, instead of camping use or the like.
Received the lantern after purchasing for $65 USD. In comparing it against other LED lanterns, the Tough Light had the best features for the price point. I saw frequent other users having complaint about the lantern's small size. In this case, smaller is better, having a large bulky lamp was always a pain in my prior years camping or the like when considerable space had to be dedicated to storage of a lantern.
Having USB-C charging is welcome as that standard was chosen worldwide as the new smart phone cable standard. I was also glad to see a regular USB port in addition. Usage of CREE LEDs is appreciated, which should hopefully result in long-term durability and efficiency in light output. Great to see the lantern having an IPX6 waterproof rating;
From MatadorUp's site on IPX6 ratings:
"...To test to level 6 protection from liquids, a third party tests the actual products by closing them and spraying them from all directions with powerful water jets. Products are sprayed with 100 liters per minute at a pressure of at least 15psi for at least 3 minutes from all directions...."
I have not tested the advertised run times on the different light modes.
Room for Improvement:
Light modes: PLEASE change the order of the lantern settings. Having the brightest 400 Lumen setting come on with the first button push is bad practice as it blinds the user. Please reverse the order having the lowest brightness setting come on first.
Larger battery: A 6000 mAh battery will be quickly discharged when charging a smart phone or tablet. There appears to be ample room in the storage compartment inside for a larger battery. The storage space for the charging cable would be sacrificed of course, but as it is not a proprietary cable, the vast majority of users will have this charging cable.
ETA: Its a damn shame that people won't be reading these reviews now that ToughLight has replaced this light with a higher mAh model, because the customer service I have received in dealing with a minor issue(shipping/processing, not with the light at all) is by far the most responsive and thorough I have ever experienced in the last 10 years if not longer. Keep up the great work ToughLight!!!

Great Light, But Cannot Get My Warranty Registered
ReneC✓ Verified Purchase•July 4, 2023
I received my ToughLight on July 1, 2023. So far I am delighted with the light. Unfortunately, multiple attempts at getting it registered for my 2-year warranty have not worked. If I go to their site and fill out the data required, it reports it as an error. If I call them on their phone, I am advised to go to their site. If I cannot do the email, I am advised to leave my name and number for them to contact me by phone (which I did). Almost two weeks later, and I have not received a phone call.
Works well, but battery life not as advertised.

Power went out for a week. Used this on medium brightness a few hours a night before bed. Battery light began blinking on day 3, so only maybe 12-16 hours of use after being fully charged on the generator. Still works pretty good though. Just don't believe the 200 hour battery life claim. Buy some stick lights for backups always.
IT’S A REALLY GOOD LANTERN

Would have given it a five rating except in the total darkness, you need to feel your way around it to find the on/off switch, unless you also have a flashlight right there.
