I am using this to melt butter for parties. I wish it has a lid. May be it is possible if the shape is round or square and a lid can be provided which will be perfect to use this for melting coconut oil, butter etc for the parties.

I bought two, one for gravy/ sauces and one for maple syrup. A must for brunches. I put the hottest tap water I could into the gravy boats and tested the temperature. One was 114° and the other 120°. I put them on the stands and plugged them in. After an hour I tested the water again and both were at 114°. Not scientific, but enough to let me know they'll work. The secret will be getting the sauces hot before putting them in the gravy boats.
Gotta have HOT gravy!

Besides the Turkey, thanksgiving is about the sides. Sides get gravy. Sides cool as they sit so your gravy needs to be hot. My family thought I was a genius for having HOT gravy all through dinner. I filled the gravy boat a few times (wish it was a tad larger)- and it kept emptying out. I also wish there was an on and off switch instead of plugging it in and it's on. But oh well. HOT gravy was served at my house all through dinner!!

I actually bought this for my tea and hot chocolate, I use it to keep them warm. I have not had a single cold sip since buying this and it's always the perfect temp. It is my second one, they are sturdy ceramic and nice. Only wish it had a switch to turn it on and off instead of having to unplug, but not a big deal. I will use them for all holiday meals too, probably will get more so there's hot gravy on all tables ;) I love it!

Very pretty and heavy duty. Wont get to use this for awhile as it is going aboard a live-a-board boat headed from Washington to Alaska soon. I do love the way it looks. It is going to be used to keep melted butter warm for all the delicious crab we will be eating. Looks like it will do the job just fine while being elegant too. Very excited to use it. Very happy with it so far.
