I need to eat a high protein/low cal/low carb diet & rely on protein bars every once in a while for a boost. I tried these at the suggestion of a friend and I'm so glad I gave them a chance before reading the mixed reviews here.
For me the ratios are perfect- only 130 calories for 20g of protein & just 1 net carb is probably the best I've found. I was tired of the high cal faux candy bar tastes of many other protein bars. This bar is super simple which I appreciate. The texture is completely different than a standard protein bar- it's soft & almost caramel like, very chewy like a taffy, but not overly sweet at all. The taste is very subtle & buttery, no artificial sweetener taste!!!
I really love these bars & will continue to order them. I wish they were available in stores!

I am on the Atkins Diet and I am an Uber driver. So, the predicament is I do not want to gnosh on meat while driving. So, I have been eating real meals before and after a shift while taking Atkins Diet bars and shakes with me on the road in addition to Paleo/Primal-style jerky. Plus, I have been eating cheese crisps (toasted cheese "crackers") and Moon Cheese [dehydrated (?) cheese balls]. With that said, I like variety. Although this bar is "weird," it only has 4 ingredients and they are natural ingredients. Although dairy is a gray area in Primal/Paleo diets, it is NOT on Atkins. Plus, I have to function within my lifestyle limits.
Pros: A little goes a long way & it's rich so it sneaks up you (eat slowly), pleasant taste
Cons: Very sticky (take small bites), would taste bad to someone NOT low-carbing

Poor quality on last two boxes....

I order at least 6 boxes a month. This last shipment was wary off. I've tried 2 bars from both boxes. It's a different color, tastes like sweetened rotten eggs and are thinner then normal. Very disappointing to spend 2dollars a bar to have to gag down. Wandering if this company is skipping quality control. Very disappointing. I order this and various other products from JB. I refuse to support a company when quality drops and prices increase. Hope you fix it asap or I'll take my business elsewhere!!!
Kudos to Julian Bakery

I am diabetic, and my son is anaphylactic to peanuts and sensitive to most legumes, including soy. We are able to tolerate some dairy if it is lactose free and grassfed. We don't qualify for the Pegan Bars -- waah! But my daughter enjoys those. My son and I both find that we are not reactive to the Primal Thin bars. Yay! It took about two bars for me to get used to the texture; while my son took to these right away. We think they taste just fine and are so, so very glad to find a company that believes that there are people who want and need to eat really healthy (rather than healthy except for a big dump of sugar, or just a few toxic chemical preservatives, or just one or two common allergens). This food has a short, straightforward, clean list of ingredients. Bravo, Julian Bakery. We look forward to trying new ones.
My search has ended!

I am an avid protein bar consumer. My go-to bars have always been Quest bars, but I've always been searching for something new and different. High protein. Sugar free. Clean. Sugar alcohol free. And dare I say, grain free/nut free. Enter the Primal Thin Bars. Only 130 calories. 20g of protein. Easy on the digestive system since there's no sugar alcohols to contend with.
For the people who complain about the texture; just like "Q" bars, these bars are THE BEST when warmed in the microwave for about 10 seconds. I took a bite before warming, and yes, not the greatest. Post warming, it was like a totally different bar. I'm going to get some wax paper to use when warming them because (also like my old Q-bars) they stick to plates or paper towels.
