Accurate cutting and very functional. Use the utube videos as there are lots of ideas.

I have the big stripology ruler many states away. I'm making a quilt that is all strips and couldn't imagine making this quilt without a stripology so bought the square. I've watched the utube videos and have used it just a few times. So far, I like the big stripology ruler better, but maybe I'm just not used to it yet. These rulers are the best.

I bought the larger mat first but had to go back and get the smaller square one too, these are so great for cutting very accurate strips, one of the best new rulers I've gotten in a long time. I bought the first one that came out a long time ago by another person and it was too flimsy, it didn't hold it's shape and my strips were wonky, this one is firm enough to keep things lined up just right.
This works way better with a sharp cutter in case you were wondering ;)

It seems obvious, but I didn't think about the fact that the blade in my rotary cutter was probably super dull and was feeling frustrated about the cuts. When this finally occurred to me and I switched to a sharp blade, it was like butter and all the cuts were perfect. So if you're having trouble getting straight cuts or cutting all the way through fabric, try a new blade.

What did I ever do before this ruler?? It is THE BOMB!! I love that it does strips so quickly. Squaring up is also easy although the white lines for the 1/2" increments are a bit harder to read. It's pretty much the only ruler I use anymore. The grips on the bottom work very well to keep everything in place. Now if they made a rotating mat the same size I'd be in quilting heaven.

This helps squaring up quilt squares easier if you don't have the actual size in a square. It's sturdy and has both inch and half size lengths. You cut two sides and turn it for squares; great and well marked for strips--rather pricey however.
