A fun new deck building game
My new favorite card game!
Sir Sprite•December 24, 2017
I came across Lightseekers entirely by accident, but it has become my new favorite card game. I've been a long time Magic: The Gathering player for 20 years, and finally retired in 2016. I had been looking for something new and simple to enjoy with friends or family, and Lightseekers was the perfect fit for me. I ended up purchasing the Astral and Tech decks, and began my journey there.
The Astral Order stood out to me as being very fun. Any cards you are about to play benefit from the cards you most recently played - in other words, whatever is on top of your discard pile. It can harbor a very thoughtful style of play and is very rewarding for those who like to carefully plan their next move.
As of 12/26/2017, the Astral Order deck is the priciest out of the six decks at $21. I'd recommend waiting for it to drop to around $15, or at the very least, share the same relative price as the others. Each deck comes with a booster pack, which pairs well with the "Super Booster" set (currently $20 for 5 packs).
Lightseekers has some fantastic ideas, such as rotating cards (I found this to be the most intriguing aspect) and element sharing through the use of items. The rules may appear complex, but after your first game you'll instantly catch on. It's a solid pick for young ones and adults alike, and the creators are very active within the community which is a massive benefit to its longevity.
The cards are neatly cut and fit very well in Dragon Shield sleeves. They have a nice, semi-glossy finish on the back which accentuates the Lightseekers text. Overall, they're very pretty to look at, and have some beautiful cartoon art.
If you're looking for a new card game, I highly recommend Lightseekers!

This is a pretty fun game. My son loves it. I think it's way better than Pokemon.
