Tilt Lock Mechanism Failure

This rack failed at the tilt lock twice while we were driving. We had to use a cargo strap to secure it until we got home and returned it. Very unsafe.
Locking device loosens while driving, causing the bikes to fall away from the auto.

Tilting device, which permits a bike to swing back so a rear hatch can be opened, does, while driving, unlatch itself. So far, no bike is damaged. This is due to us using shock cord as an additional tie down. Without the shock cord the outside bike would fall and be dragged on the pavement. This is a faulty product design.
I believe I solved the problem by drilling a small hole atop the locking device and inserting a nail.
Other than that hazard, the rack performs well.

This thing is awesome! Very strong (and heavy) @ much less the $$$ of others I viewed for Fat Tire Bikes. The only downside is that the tire/wheel straps are too short for a Fat Tire Bike. However, I was able to order an assorted package of (12) straps that were TIEGO brand for only $12.99 from Amazon. They work great. So, for a total of $164 or so, I have a strong & easy to use bike rack. Had (1) issue with a part & contacted warranty company & a new one arrive by mail within the week. Do not be afraid to buy this item.

This is a well made Bike carrier. I have an ebike which weights close to 40lbs and it can handle that bike and my wife's bike no problem. It's a little on the heavy side but it needs to be. It could would with fat tire bikes too.
