Not sure why people had trouble opening the clear cover. Mine just popped right off. Hold the bottom and pulled the top.

I was just looking for an inexpensive, decent quality wind up metronome and that's exactly what I got. For me the sound was loud enough to use with electric guitars, even though I didn't crank the amp. Some metronomes can get quite pricey.
