I purchased the smaller popper. And I own the world's smallest microwave. No problems - no burning. A few kernels unpopped. The popper never got hot, melted, or any of the other horror stories. I used Organic Popcorn Kernels purchased from Safeway/Albertons. MAKE SURE YOU STORE YOUR POPCORN KERNELS IN DARK DRY STORAGE - NOT FRIG OR FRZR. Instead of trying to add fat to the popper, or pour it on top, I "paint" my bowl with some vegan butter and seasoning - then toss the hot popcorn in the bowl for even coating. If you've never used black salt on popcorn, give it a shot ... even better with a little turmeric added to the black salt. My cooking time, albeit in a dinky microwave, barely took over 2-1/2 mins. I'm guessing this microwave popper perhaps temperamental contingent upon microwave powers, freshness & storage of kernels, fats used while popping, etc??

First of all I do really like the handle on it making it easy to use as well as the cover that has a measure line for the kernels. That being said I might be overfilling it a little because often times it just ends up kind of stuck in the pot and I have to fight to get it loose again. It also seems to "steam" them a bit, there's a slightly different texture to them at first but the chew goes away pretty quickly and becomes a solid crunch again. Wish I'd bought the bigger one honestly. Ended up switching to an air-popper but I"m thinking of giving this away.
The butter applying thing didn't really seem that useful honestly. I tried it out and the butter flavor wasn't very noticeable, so I worry about the amount of butter it expects us to put in there. Maybe a different brand of butter would work better but when I tried it once or twice it didn't do much.

I chose this item versus an air popper as I had one years ago and didn't like it. I have CKD so need to eat healthier and this will help me. Only negative thing is -and no fault of the product- I can't detect the butter that melts on it as it's popping. Could be because I use salt-free butter. Microwave bagged popcorn, I add unsalted butter on it but can taste it.
I do like it though and easy to clean. It's a keeper!

Tried this and it works well. Just have to use less than full lid amount, in my microwave (GE 1100w). Did as recommended. 3 minutes and listen for pops to slow or stop. A full lid of corn burns before all pops stop at about 2 min in. Granted, a little singe in a few kernels is fine with me. But the amount of unpops is not. So, if I do 3 min and 1/2 - 3/4 lid amount. Just under 2 min and I get far more popped kernels and no burn. Dump out into bowl. And after 1 minute of rest in the bowl with butter/salt. This is very crispy/crunchy popcorn. I know they say you can melt butter in the lid, but this seems too messy. I prefer butter drizzle, or just warm up some Kerrygold and be ready when popcorn leaves microwave.
It's a good product, but takes a little testing to dial in best settings for your kitchen.

I bought my first one a couple of years ago and used it nearly every day. These make delicious, healthy air -popped corn. I love the butter dispenser in the lid as well. The amount of fat added is totally under your control. It can be fat-free or dripping in butter, your choice.
While the description says it is "dishwasher safe", I have not found it to be washable in the dishwasher. Due to the curve of the vessel, the water spray does not clean inside thoroughly. That being said, it's really easy to hand wash.
The reason I gave it 4-stars rather than 5-stars is that my second popper that I purchased recently came with a cheap plastic lid rather than the silicone lid I received with my first. I ruined my first popper being dumb--nothing to do with the popper itself. I immediately ordered a replacement, and was disappointed with the lid that came with it.
It does take a bit of experimentation to discover the exact amount of time required by your microwave. Just a few seconds over will result in burnt popcorn. Be precise in your measurement of kernels and experiment to find your sweet spot.
