Boils the Wort

I bought this kettle for home brewing and specifically purchased it because of bungs for the thermometer and valve as I didn't want to mess with rim mounted thermometers and trying to pour five gallons of wort into my fermenter. As the other reviewers and the included directions mention, you have to use a lot of Teflon tape to avoid leaks. I tested and re-tested and with the use of a whole lot of tape eliminated all of the leaks. I also added a bazooka strainer and a barb to the kettle to strain the wort and ease my transition into the fermenter. Overall, the lack of a tri-ply bottom was not a big deal as I carefully maintained the burner heat and I didn't boil over or burn anything. The lack of internal measurement marks is a bit of a bummer, but in all honesty, it was not that big a deal as I thought it would be as I just made mental note when I sanitized everything and just filled to about that line. Brewing isn't an exact science, unless you make it one, and I am more of a wing it and drink it type. Overall, this pot does what it is supposed to do and should last a good many brews. I will update with any issues I have with this pot as I should be using it pretty frequently for 5 gallon kits.
This is a real stainless steel pot.

I purchased this kettle to use to master batch oil used for soap making. I love it!
Size accuracy

Nice product for what it is. The size is not accurate. 120 quarts (30 gallons) size is 28 gallons over flowing. Only usable to 25 gallons.
Understand thread tape and it will seal just fine!

So far so good, I haven't brewed with it yet but I assembled the fittings and checked for leaks. I did not use the thread tape that was provided, I used my own high quality thread tape just to be certain the materials I was using were the best available. Assembling this is slightly tricky if you aren't familiar with the use and function of thread tape. This helps bridge thread gaps between the male and female fittings as well as provide a better surface for the inside diameter of the gaskets to sit on around the flanges.
-The washers may disrupt the tape and cause threads to be exposed which is fine as long as you rectify this in each spot the gaskets sit. I applied additional wraps of thread tape after the first washer went on, then applied the gasket. Inserting into the pot may also disrupt the taped surface so I added additional tape after inserting the fitting into the pot and then again applied the second gasket. the next washer and the nut can go on as is. I tightened them until the interior gasket appeared to have a firm fit and was thinned out slightly (telling me that the inside diameter expanded slightly to create a seal around the flange).
I did this with both the valve fitting and the thermometer fitting. Filled with water and left it for several hours with a paper towel wrapped around each fitting. Upon my return the towels were dry as a bone. I will update once I brew in the kettle this weekend and let you know if anything leaked.
