Install was easy. Not sure why people are having trouble removing the cover, I just twisted it from the inside using the tabs, came right off. I had to move the mounting screws in the ceiling box to the outer 2 holes, but this was no biggie. The light color and brightness is wonderful. It has all the warm yellows of old school quality incandescents, but still has a "fresh" and new type lighting to it. I installed 2, replacing old brass fixtures in the hallway in my 1985 split foyer..Looks great

Absolutely love the 2700K model. Bright, clean, almost looks like a recessed light. Only two issues, one easily fixed.
1) Silicone ring needs a slight stretch before installing. Once it's fit, the ceiling holds out from shrinking.
2) Doesn't mount in a 2-3/4" standard screw spacing. I've had to add mounting brackets to spread the screw spacing from my standard light boxes. They should include the bracket like they do on the 5.5"lights.

Edited Review - I sent an email to Hamilton Hills regarding the gasket and my review below. I was very pleased to receive a reply from HH apologizing for my frustration with the gasket. In the reply HH stated that they are currently updating the instructions to explain that the gasket is only needed when installing the light in a wet environment. HH didn't mention if they will include the secrets to keeping the gasket adhered to the light while installing it, but it's a big plus to me that they replied. Updated from 3 stars to 5.

I just finished installing this lamp. It looks great and fills the room with plenty of bright light. The install was not difficult, all you need is a Phillips screwdriver and a ladder to reach the ceiling...however, and this is a big HOWEVER!

The silicon gasket will make you crazy!! It will not stay attached to the fixture!! There aren't any instructions about the best way to install the gasket, in fact, the gasket isn't even mentioned in the supplied instructions. I read every review on Amazon and then searched the web for anything that might provide a clue to installing the gasket...nothing. There are multiple reviews on Amazon stating frustration with this gasket and no one has or is able to provide the trick so I just installed the light without the gasket and it looks fine. However, this does not sit well with my slight OCD when it comes to completing projects...I agree with the reviewer that said the gasket is better suited for ring toss.

Note to Hamilton Hills - Why isn't the gasket mentioned in your instructions? Perhaps you should provide a better gasket, design or some clue to the trick of install. You get three stars because I like the light, but come on, really?

Bought this Hamilton Hills Flush Mount 12" LED ceiling light to replace a standard bulb fixture in my bathroom. My objectives were to have a more modern look, moisture resistant, brighter light output fixture that consumed less energy. This fixture delivered on all counts, plus it was very inexpensive.

It was very easy to install. I only needed a medium size Phillips head screwdriver. Due to the fact that the old fixture was mounted with a cross-bar I did have to remove that as the Hamilton Hills unit mounts using the screw tabs on a standard 4" ceiling outlet box. The instructions did not say what to do with the large translucent "rubber band" that came with the unit. I figured it out - you use the "rubber band" to cover the end of the fixture that contacts the ceiling to keep the edge of the fixture protected from contact and presumably to create a small seal. The "rubber band" was easy enough to put on the end as it has a slight groove and you just press it on. The real trick was keeping the rubber band on while moving the fixture around during installation. I had to stop several times in the process and re-install the "rubber band" so that once the fixture was mounted and i was tightening the screws that the "rubber band was smooth and properly in place on the edge. This was the worst part of the installation - so, all in all, pretty straight-forward if you know how to replace a typical ceiling fixture.

Once in place the rubber "band" created a nice seal for the fixture against my textured ceiling. The light output is at least triple that of my old fixture which had a 15w Edison CFL bulb. The Hamilton Hills fixture provides brighter, more evenly distributed light, and consumes much less energy. The installation instructions also didn't include any directions for removing the diffuser lens, but after a couple of minutes I figured out you gently press the lens up a little and twist it. There are 3 small pins or nubs round the edge of the flush mount lens and it just sort of screws on and off. The lens is plastic and I wasn't sure I would like that as I'd have referred a glass one, but now that it's installed the plastic looks fine and I love the light put put and the general appearance of the fixture, so I'm okay with it being plastic.

Frankly, I've been surprised at how much a simple inexpensive ceiling fixture like this could make in my bathroom. There are multiple much more expensive fixtures in the bathroom - four 23w LED down lights above the sink/counter and two wall mounted LED sconces with a total of 6 15w LED bulbs in them so this fixture is really not necessary. It is just the one fixture closest to the shower. I never used the old fixture it cast shadows and although it had an "instant on" bulb, like most CFL units, it too it a few minutes to "warm up" in order to provide full light. This Hamilton Hills fixture is truly instant on, no shadows, and much brighter light. I actually like having it on and am for the first time using this fixture. I had no idea how much it would transform my bathroom when I ordered it.

Needless to say, I love it. I hope it's durability measures up to it's delivery on all my original objectives. For such a cheap fixture Hamilton Hills has really exceeded my expectations. Before buying this fixture I considered multiple similar units from many sources and manufacturers, some were more than 5 times as expensive - price wasn't a consideration (within reason of course), and I hesitated on buying this unit because it was relatively speaking cheap; however, one week in I'm delighted with the end result.

A great light! I am typing by the light right now. I needed only one. If I need light, I will buy this light again. The light arrived on time, properly packaged (unbroken), and easy to install. The light is bright. Just what I wanted. The light is also dimmable. I live in a small house and, due to my needs, I replaced a dinning room chandelier with this light. I no longer bump my head and I have better light. This light brightly lights a 10x10 area. The light does a great job.
