My favorite

After purchasing this sword I immediately fell in love. It is a Musashi (sub-branded "Musha") katana, full tang and very solid. It is very eye-catching and alot of my friends have complimented it. It is by far my favorite in my collection. It also features a "hidden throwing dagger" (aka a really pretty display tanto). The knife isn't sharp and based on its balance, I would say is definitely not a full tang knife. the handle is metal, probably stainless steel, and it looks pretty impressive. The sord itself is beautiful. The only complaint I have is that the paint job on mine was a little off (I'm assuming this is due to the fittings being mass produced, and not truly hand-painted. The saya (sheath) is nice, solid white. The sageo (cord) is actually an off-white, due to the fact I'm suuming that it is cotton and not dyed so it just has a natural kinda fiber color.

All in all, I absolutely love this sword, and it is my favorite piece.

Hope this review helps.
excellent sword for the price

This Katana looks very nice and is very...very sharp. Since this was my first sword purchase I didn't know much about the various parts of the Katana but, the Tsuka (handle) is tightly wrapped with cord and has 2 Mekugi (pegs). There are no loose parts. Like I said, the blade is very sharp and cuts paper almost like my new ceramic knives. I hold the paper between the thumb and forefinger and slice down vertically 4 to 5 inches before the paper bends too much.
This samurai sword's branding is currently in transition from MUSASHI to MUSHA
Mine came as a Musha.
The sword alone weighs 27.66 oz and with Saya weighs 37.24 oz. The Saya has a flawless finish.
I would not try throwing the throwing knife, since it bends easily. It does make a nice decoration on the Saya.
The Katana arrived without a single flaw except for the black cotton bag that I needed to re-stitch.
Be careful if you try stabbing something since there is no Tsuba (hand guard).
Just as a comparison I also purchased the Kill Bill Bride's Sword that is very nice also and very sharp, but the sword alone weighs 38.42 oz.
I hope this was of some help.
well........Sword.... Tight wrap, full tang sharp, hand made 440 stainless steel, all you can ask for in a blade but sheath no

I read one of the reviews on here of a guy who said the sheath was cracked around the knife that comes with it ( by the way the knife is a nice little perk, sharp, fairly thin but impressivly sharp and sturdy for something that slides into a sheath almost as thin as the sword blade but wood, but we'll get to the sheath in a second.

Blade: When you look for a sword look for FOUR things, First Full tang, Second numbered stainless steel, third a sharp edge and fourth handmade, this sword has it all but a joke for a sheath. Well oiled...not wax... This oil will protect from rust, scratches when sheathing and has a genorus amount on it. If your not practicing daily or cutting up pineapples this will last a lifetime in display on a sheath that is only taken out to show off for gueasts. Its solid, thos who say they bent in in the review should not be doing what they are with it. If you bent in on an inturuder it would slice 10 inches into the torso before its out of shape to go back in the sheath. If you practice you should know anything the needs a thin edge such as a blade, especially a sword as long as a katana is not meant for hard targets. Also the technique you use can take years to learn the propper slice, the slightest wrong angle makes it a hack, and hacking will bend any edged weapon, the longer it is the more danger of this. I myself do not practice using samurai swords, so im smart enough not to over indulge.

But... keep in myind this is not 1-5 thousand dollar Japanese katana made far off in the remote mountains of japan by an old sage who has never heard of a firearm. Thoses you need connections to buy, and a bit of an obsession. To be fair it is handmade though. They spend there time giving a wavy design near the blade and a somewhat "blued" tint to the steal near the (top) dull end.

Little knife- If you look closely in the picture and description this does come with a little (butter looking) knife but this is very sharp, and slips nicely and concealed into the sheath and looks like part of the design till you slide it out use it. Nifty little accessory well made enough im disappointed other swords dont offer this.

The bad part...Sheath, The wood on the sheath is EXTREMLY thin and cracked on arrival, i sent it back for a new one. I would imagine if you played too often with it cracking would be inevitable. No wavy designs on the sheath just a thick coat of paint making it look almost plastic, but you cann see the wood on the inside, and on the cracks mine came with. From the revie of the other person who had cracks it seems to occur the most at the top around the knife and arround the very tip where the blade gos in, Maybe wrap this with some tape and then some lace to make it look like part of the sword design to reinforce it if the whole sheath is as thin as i have found this to be BE CAREFUL, you can see its brittle thinness looking into the slot the sword goes., but im returning mine in the condition it came, I have not done so with this. Its intended as a gift.

If your going to walk around with it i would be sure to be on a paranoid level that the slightest bum will crack this sheath. The sword on the other hand had someone make it who knew very well what they were doing, remembering its not thousands of dollars. Its a shame they seem to have put a bare 5 minutes to supply what I wouldnt pass for a "sheath around it)
Not just a wall hanger

I'll keep it simple. It's everything they said it was and more. High quality at a good price. Once you've held it, felt the weight and proper balance you'll understand. They even make sure it's correctly oiled right out of the box. On that subject this sword it made from high quality high carbon steel. Carbon steel unlike stainless will rust. Use your sword all you want just remember to completely clean and properly oil the blade after each use. If you just want to hang it on the wall for looks the oil that's on it will eventually dry out. Remember to inspect it once a month. If the oil is drying out clean the old oil off and put new oil on it. Amazon carries the oil and cleaning kits. Or use any high quality higher viscosity oil. The thinner the oil you use the faster it dries out.
Great!

This katana was above my expectations. It was razor sharp along the entire blade. I compared it with another one of my katanas that wasn't as sharp as this one. I saw a thin line showing the sharpness of the blade on the Zetsurin compared to the other low carbon grade blade katana that was extremely more dull compared to the Zetsurin. The wrap around the handle seems to be dirty but I guess that's the way the color is. I don't think it would look attractive if the wrap was a complete snow white. It would look more like a katana used for cosplay if that was the color of the wrap.

One thing that annoys me is that the kozuka doesn't go all the way in. It stops 3/4 of the way in and I can't push the handle in at all. That's okay, it still stays in there. The very tip of my kozuka is bent.

It probably isn't too good for your sword but cutting water bottles doesn't really show the quality of a sword to me. So I went out cutting branches. The thickest branch I was probably able to cut with a clean cut was one the size of my middle finger. It's that sharp.

The segeo which is the little bow on the saya or sheath looks really nice. For anyone wondering or have the product, it's meant to be tied that way. I think it adds a lot more to it having it dangle on one end like that. I tried taking my sword apart but I wasn't sure if I was doing it wrong or something because it just wouldn't come apart after I gave it a few taps with my right hand. I inspected the sword and I seemed to have found some hot glue residue. I was able to put back the pins perfectly meaning that the blade didn't even move. The sword bag it came with was just a regular sword bag. It did have lots of Styrofoam on it from the package but that was easily removable. Remember when putting your katana in a sword bag, to leave about 1-3 inches from the bottom to prevent the bag from ripping. I wasn't sure what the bag was made out of but it was easy to hold and pretty smooth. I'm pretty sure cotton.

This is a wonderful Katana and for it's price it's worth it. I would expect something like this to be 100 dollars but it's only about 50 dollars. A great deal for a sword with delicious eye candy and a razor sharp blade.
