When I felt stuck with a decision to hard wire my video cam, I was very frustrated in figuring how to get a small wire up stairs to a transformer in any kind of neat manner. Ring does not offer a plug in power supply for their doorbell. If you have access to an Ac outlet near your doorbell you could use this to "hardwire" your Ring bell/camera. Our door bell is mounted on the outside of our garage so a simple hole drilled through the wall was easy.
This may not be possible in all instances but is an excellent solution if you have weatherproof access to an Ac outlet..
