failed after 4 months
JKJanuary 23, 2018
I had 2 kohler canister toilets installed a few years ago. The original gaskets began to pop off during flushes after about 2 years. Doing some research on the web I discovered the reddish gaskets that came with the toilets should be replaced with an improved design that was yellow. I bought these non-Kohler equivalents and within 4 months they were popping off worse than the originals. If the real kohler gaskets work any better then these are a 1 not a 3 but I doubt that. The real problem is a lousy design by Kohler of the gasket seat. the very small overlap on the canister simply can't hold the gasket in place during the suction of a flush. I recently glued both gaskets down to the canister with pvc cement and they seem to be holding - that is probably the way to go - or buy a Toto toilet

I tried these to see if they were just as good and they don't fit as easily as the Kohlers and they don't seal as well. I am going back to the originals.
