Pump and tubing issue- help, please.

How do I get the pump to lay on reservoir floor.? The tubing is too short by about 2 inches. It does lay on the floor inside this back hole, right? What am I doing wrong?

I received my fountain in good time. When I opened the box and started to assembly I found out that the Red Cardinal a centerpiece of the fountain was missing. I contacted Alpine customer service dept and was greated with great concern about the missing bird. They said they would make it right and they sure did. Within 4 days I received the missing item.
I'm very pleased with the great customer service. Highly recommend this fountain by Alpine.
