Primary harness is a bit short; must get a full 12 V trigger to work properly.

I install a lot of back up cameras for car dealerships and retail customers, adding them to existing factory radio screens or aftermarket radios. I've been using this camera for a while. The price point is excellent, quality/durability seem good and the picture quality is excellent. No comebacks or DOAs so far.

My initial complaint was that the primary camera cable is a too short. Like most cameras, it has a two-piece cable: a short harness from the camera with a skinny 4-pin connector (which is only about 3' long), which connects to a longer power/rca harness which then travels to the front of the vehicle/radio . This is fine for trunk installations, but if you're doing a hatchback or SUV with a liftgate, the 3' camera harness is not nearly long enough to route through the rubber boots and into the vehicle itself. This means you have to take the longer RCA/power harness and work it through the rubber boot from the inside of the car into the hatchback and connect it there to the camera harness. Working that fat RCA connector through a rubber grommet can be a major pain on some vehicles. Most professional cameras that I use have a camera harness that is twice as long, making it easy to run the small four pin connector into the vehicle, and connect it to the RCA/Power harness at that point.

Today I ran into a second issue: working on three different Toyota vehicles at the same location, I could not get the camera to work at all! I thought "Surely I can't have a batch of bad cameras"? After a bit of detective work I determined that the camera must have a full 12 V of power supply to it, even though it has a voltage regulator built-in to cut the power down (presumably to 6 V like most cameras). The power output on most factory radio's (Toyota in this case) for camera trigger is only about 6 V. That will not turn this camera on! So I have to do some extra wiring to run the camera power wires to a 12 v Power source, something I never have to do with more professional grade camera's (which cost twice as much). So bear that in mind. So far I do recommend it but it does have a few shortcomings.
it is very good. Not HD by any stretch

The design is very well thought out. It gives you ton of cabling to get from the back of a 200+ inch SUV to the head unit. It also has just the right hookups you would need to get to a head unit and to your backup lights (for switching). The main cable that feeds power and video output from the camera also has a neat quick connect thing, so you don't have to worry about dealing with an awkward mess of cables as you are installing the camera. The only downside is the issue others have mentioned with putting it on the rear paneling (like a tailgate handle) instead of under the bumper lip. I went with the latter approach, so I didn't have to take the camera apart.

As far as the image quality, it is very good. Not HD by any stretch, but it's plenty good enough to make sure you won't be running over any kids or squirrels.

The quality of the camera is good. The picture quality is okay. It's not very clear or wide. This is not 170 degrees like the description and title claim it is. My dashcam is 170 degrees this Noauka doesn't come anywhere near that. The stock backup camera on our other car has 3 settings and one of them goes so wide that you can almost see around the cars you are parked next to. The only thing this has going for it is the build quality and the brightness at night. It's nice and bright, but I do have really bright LED reverse lights.

Edit: This has only been on for about 2 months and already there is water and dust inside the lens which has made the picture quality horrible. I physically cleaned the outer lens with a damp/dry microfiber towel but it didnt change anything. It looks like water and dust has gotten inside this "waterproof" camera. Waste of money.
Basic things u should know, befor u buy
Kymaaera999✓ Verified PurchaseFebruary 5, 2018
It is not night vision. I'm sure they want u to know that the picture is clear when the brake lights are on but there is no night vision ir lights and no night vision lens that allows one to see in the dark.

Next, it needs to be installed with a relay to control the picture flickering and rolling. It obviously doesnt come with one and so this cost extra. This is not mentioned in the instructions.

I deducted 2 stars because this makes the advertisements inaccurate and misleading.

The good. It does show 170 degrees of picture. I turned the guidelines off because they were distracting and use it as a permanent camera for monitoring the traffic behind me. It does help with my blind spots on either side.
Please have this professionally installed. I tried cutting the white wire and the power disconnected, and the audio shop guy had to rewire it so it worked again.
This is not a diy project unless you actually know what ur doing.
With the hassles and expense for me because I was just expecting a basic camera and thats what I got, so it gets the job done.
Good camera but cutting white wire does not remove distance lines, image also needs to be reversed.

This camera seems to be pretty high quality with a metal housing. It includes plenty of wire and it looks factory on my Tahoe where the factory camera would go. It must be mounted 'upside down' or bolt facing up for the picture to orient correctly.

That said, I have distance lines already integrated in my head unit and I can view the camera without being in Reverse, so I wanted to disable the ones with the camera so when I'm not backing up I can just view the video feed without lines. I cut the white wire as the instructions stated but the line is still there. Since I re-assembled everything after install I don't want to go back in to fix this but the instructions did not work for me.

Also, I had to reverse the image using my head unit so it lines up with my rear-view mirror, your mileage may vary.
